Jocker from The Dark Knight | Acrylic Painting

Jocker from DC universe

Jocker.
I hope this name requires no additional explanation or any kind of exaggeration. This antihero has more fans than somany other heroic characters in our cinema industry. One thing that contributed this many fans to the character was the movie Batman The Dark knight which was released in 2008. The character by Heath Ledger made history with the creation of a huge fanbase.

Still so many believes that the Jocker character from the Dark Knight is the best Jocker in history.

Today I made a painting of this famous character using acrylic paints.

Medium
Acrylic paints

Tools used
Acrylic poster colours
Brushes - Round 0, 1, 6. Flat 2,6
Paper - A5, 320gsm
Water
Pencil Hb
Masking tape

Extras
While taking photos of the painting it was difficult to get rid of the light reflections. So I used some reflectors and shields with some cloth and used the natual light for capturing.

Making of the Painting

Sketching
I fixed the drawing sheet on a flat board with some masking tapes to get a clear edge of course. As the paper space was small, I was able to sketch fast with a pencil and completed the basic drawing.

First layer of paints
I started with the painting the background first. I left spaces for the character space. Mixing of colours before applying it very much helped me getting various tones. And I went with a blurry style background with rough applying of colours using my flat brushes.

Detailing
Started painting the main character part and I managed to make necessary highlights and shadows as I anticipated. Use of short round brushes very much helped me bringing more detailing to my subject.

Finishing
Completed the background removed the masking tapes from the edges with good care.
