Here in Bertes I usually follow a trail that runs along the coast and ends at the marina where I then get on the road that leads to city center. The photos are from walking this stretch. Today summer is definitly here. We have started to get high tempetures. This means lots of people go to the beaches. As you see on the photos, Bertes Bukta has mostly solid rocks. There are no sandy beaches. In any case, not what you normally associate with a white sandy beach. But there are two very small streches with sand – only a few meters.
Even though we have a rocky coastline, there are lots of different plants and flowers growing here. Even in cracks between the rocks, plants grow on what little soil they can find. They are hardy plants that survive drought, hard winds and salty water. They do blossom even we haven't seen rain for a couple of weeks. It is now in June that they are at their best.
As you can see, we don't have the beautiful white sandy beaches like southern Europe. But the solid rocks are just as comfortable as a sandy bach. Here in Bertes Bukta you will also find a campsite with cabins for rentals, cafe and shop. It is already well filled with tents and campers. On my way back I notived quite a few Germans and Dutch cars. The tourist season is undoubtedly well under way.
