INTRODUCTION

Football, also known as soccer, is a beautiful game involves two sets of 11 players who plays to maneuver the ball into the opposition's goalpost, with no hand or arms.
When a ball goes in between the posts, it is called a goal
Also, the team with more goals wins the match. Football is the world's most popular ball game amongst other games.

Brief History About the game of football.

Records trace the history of soccer back more than 2,000 years ago to ancient China. Greece, Rome, and parts of Central America also claim to have started the sport; but it was England that transitioned soccer, or what the British and many other people around the world call “football,” into the game we know today. source

Football (soccer) is a game we play with our foot and also, any side that score more emerge the winner.

Object of the Game

When playing a football game, your main Target is to score more goals than your opponent within 90minutes.
This 90 minutes game is also devided into two halves of 45minutes each. After the first 45 minutes players will take a 15 minute rest period called half time. The second 45 minutes will resume and any time deemed fit to be added on by the referee (injury time) will be accordingly.

Now, let's look at some various positions in a football field.
The positions in soccer are one of the basic fundamentals to know, whether you are a seasoned player or just starting out. The main positions are forward, midfielder, defender, and goalkeeper

So for this, we are using CHAALEE UNITED FC.

1. Goalkeeper

I'm a football game, the goalkeeper is the only player allowed to touch the ball with his hands. This is because they are positioned there to disallow the ball from entering the goal post.

One duty they do is to stay close to the post, preventing the opposition from scoring a goal. They will typically not leave the area of the goal box (the lines that form a box closest to their own goal). This is because they may not touch the ball if they are outside of their goal box.

Now look at the picture on this section above, you will see Henderson standing in front (between) of the the post, positioned to disallow the ball from rolling into the post.

They are also responsible for stopping the ball from entering the post during penalty kicks.

A penalty kick is when a player commits a foul game in their 18yard box or when they touch the ball with their hand in the 18 yard box. Now the 18 yard box is the boxed line, that indicates the potion of the goal keeper. See picture below.

The white boxed line within the red broken lines is the 18 yard box. Any foul game or handball within that white line calls for a penalty shoot.

A PENALTY shoot is when a player is given a ball to play against his opposition keeper. The football field had aarked place where penalties are taken and it's a one-on-one scenario.

2. Defenders

They are the main players who stops the ball from reaching their goalkeeperThese defenders are the last set of players the opposition will encounter on their way to scoring a goal, besides the goalkeeper.
The picture below shows all defenders in red, within a black circle.

This position typically starts the game close to their own goal box. During the game, they can typically be found anywhere on their teams half of the field. This is between their goal line and the midfield line.

They are mostly responsible to perform throw in and long free kicks.

This defenders are further positioned into full back and center back.

Who is a full back???

These are defenders positioned at either sides of the center back, and are responsible for stopping the opposition wingers from scoring a goal. See picture below.

the two players at either end with red shirts are the full back defenders, we call them 2 and 3(from right to left).

What about a center back???

The main job for players who plays in this positiylon is to stop the opposition striker from scoring a goal. Thy are mostly dominant in their area of duty, and they either cover a specific portion of the field or a specific player. See picture below

3. Midfielder

The players who plays this very position are the engine in a football team, performing various types of duties. This is a very important position because they typically need to be good at defense, attack and offense. See picture below.

They are placed within the yellow circle with red shirts on the picture.
Some of their main duties include:

  1. They give more assistance to the defenders, making sure the ball doesn't get pass them.

  2. They are the core players responsible for giving the forward players ball in order to score a goal.

  3. Also responsible for scoring better goals in the opportunity shines at them.

The territory for this position can vary quite a bit depending on who you ask. It is not surprising to see a midfielder in almost any area of the field. But for the most part, they should stick to the central area. At the beginning of the game, they are positioned behind the forwards. During the game, they often cover the halfway point between their own goal line and the midfield line. They can also cover between the midfield line and their opponent's goal line.

They are also responsible in taking different roles in a team, like the penalty kick, free kick corner and throwing, depending on the best player for each of the role.

They are also sub divided into 3 sections.

Centre midfield.
They give support to both the defenders and the forwards.
The players who plays in this position have a clear view in how the game runs and also, have a special control over the game and ball.

Defensive midfield.
They are the power midfielders that gives more support and protection to the defenders.
They typically lay back when their team goes on the attack. Their main job here is to disallow their opponent and take the ball out of their own half.

Attacking midfield.
I call them the original power house point. This role can be divided into the left, right, or central midfield.
Their main duty is to create opportunities for strikers by finding passes that can cut through the defense of the opposition.

4. Forwards.

These players aim is to score goals. They are aligned in front of the team's squad and are mainly responsible in scoring goals. When watching a football match, all your attention goes to the forward players, since they are mainly responsible for scoring goals.

They are usually the players responsible for kicking off at the beginning of the game and at halftime. See their posting below. They are placed in front, E.g the players with white shirt.

They are also diveded into two, center forward(striker) and winger.

Centre forward

They are also called the top nine, known as strikers, responsible for scoring goals in a match. They grab more attention to themselves.

If a team opts for a more defensive formation, a centre forward may find themselves attacking a goal alone or holding onto a ball while their team comes in for a play.

Winger

They play on either sides near the touchline. Their objective is to quickly dribble past their opposing full-backs and pass the ball to a striker. If a team plays a more narrow formation in the midfield, they may not even use wingers.

The Importance of the Positions

As a player, you ought to know your position in a football game, and also it will help you know on what job you're to do in the field. If players do not follow the guidelines of their positions, their team will not function properly.

A team with well positioned players normally have huge winning results. Positions are typically decided by what kind of skills a player has, making it important for an individual to focus on their specific position.

So, I have successfully explained all positions in a football game for kevlartti. But wait do you know who a substitute player is???
They are players outside the field who are also included to swap are change a player on the field may be due to low performances, injuries or just the coach tactics.

A football coach is one who manages the team. They are also called the head manager of the team.

Now, kevlartti, lemme explain some things to you.

Players & Equipment

Each team consist of a goalkeeper and 10 players. The field is normally 120 yards by 75 yards wide.

On each pitch you will have a 6 yard box next to the goal mouth, an 18 yard box surrounding the 6 yard box and a centre circle. And also, each half of the pitch is equal to the other side.

Major things needed for players to play a football game is the football and a football field, including football boots, shin pads and matching strips.

The goalkeepers will additionally wear padded gloves as they are the only players allowed to handle the ball with their hands. They all have captains, individually.

Scoring

Scoring a goal in a football match is sometimes very difficult because all your opposition players will be against you, trying to stop you. So in order to score a goal, the ball must pass in between the post.

The whole ball needs to be over the line for it to be a legitimate goal. Like this.👇👇

Now let's look at the rules

Rules of Football (Soccer)

  1. 45 minutes halves with a 15 minutes break in between them.
  2. Each team with 11 players including a goalkeeper, responsible to stop the ball within the 18 yard box and a minimum of 7 players are needed as substitutes.
  3. The game is played in a stadium, with field made of either artificial or natural grass.
  4. Substitution are made at anytime, with maximum of 3 players(though subjected to league type).
If the team has already made their three substitutions and another players has to leave the field due to injury, they will be forced to play the game like that with a 10 against 12 match.
  5. Each game must include one referee and two assistant referee’s (linesmen).
Who is a referee?? A referee is seen as the master of ceremony. He acts as time keeper and make any decisions which may need to be made such as fouls, free kicks, throw ins, penalties and added on time at the end of each half.
The referee may consult the assistant referees at any time in the match regarding a decision.
It’s the assistant referee’s job to spot offside’s in the match (see below), throw ins for either team and also assist the referee in all decision making processes where necessary.

Offside in Football

Offside can be called when an attacking player is in front of the last defender when the pass is played through to them. If the opposition player is in front of that last defender then he is called to be offside and free kick to the defending team will be called.

A player cannot be caught offside in their own half, and also, the goalkeeper does not count as a defender. If the ball is played backwards and the player is in front of the last defender then he is not offside.

This is my honest explanation on the game of football. I hope you will get to understand it much better.

Thank you all for reading my entry. Thanks.
