I hope you are all well and happy wherever you are. Starting my day in the name of God, Most Gracious, Most Merciful. Today has been a frustrating day for me and I will tell you why.
The University arranged a concert for the students to celebrate the end of our Sports Gala which had been going on for two consecutive weeks. Arranging a university concert is a very difficult task as maintaining discipline issues is a huge task here.
Taking this risk, the university people decided that a concert would be held on which Sahir Ali Baga would be invited to perform. There was a mixed response from students. Some were very happy with it but some did not like it at all, especially those in the Islamic studies department.
Well, we had classes as usual in the morning and the concert was to start at seven in the evening. My class was supposed to start at eleven o'clock but my friend who is studying in the psychology department called me and told me to come early because we all had to have breakfast together so I reached the university by half past nine.
It is very hot in the university so we had breakfast in a restaurant outside. She brought me rice and cake. I like sweets very much. We all had breakfast together then I went to my class.
After taking the classes, I waited for the bus because the bus was supposed to arrive at 2:30 and I had finished at 2 o'clock. Well when the bus arrived I hurried home and I rested for a while and I fell asleep. Again I got up at five o'clock and started preparing for the concert because the concert was to start at seven o'clock. I didn't want to go because I don't like it very much. My friends insisted on me so I had to go.
Arriving at the university, I saw that everything was well organized. All the preparations were done in the ground. The boys and girls were standing separately and in the middle they were given a gap with the help of ropes. There were very strict security arrangements. Everything was going very well but as night fell the boys started to be rude. Only university students were allowed at this concert but not knowing how a large number of people had come from outside to attend the concert.
Bottles of water were thrown at the girls by the boys, which led to a subsequent administration. In the beginning, once or twice everyone thought it was a joke, but gradually it increased and after that water bottles kept coming on the girls. Security tried hard to control it but could not. All this mismanagement was going on and the concert which was supposed to start at seven o'clock started at ten o'clock. When Sahir Ali Baga came, all this rudeness was still going on. However, the students were standing far away from the stage.
The bottle fell on Dr. Saleem Mazhar the Vice Chancellor of our university, which made him angry and left. Sahir Ali Baga also left the concert after singing two songs. The rudeness was increasing and it was not stopping. Despite extremely tight security arrangements, it was not overcome. I feel very bad to see all the senerio.
Slowly everyone was running home and the boys started rude more. The girls were escorted safely to the main gate. I vowed that I would never go to a university concert because it was a scary day and my experience was bad.
I learned that rudeness did not begin until the beginning, but it ended badly. All this news reached the family and also got a lot of scolding from home. It is useless to give any advice to such people, it is better for us to avoid them ourselves.
This was all from my side. It was such a hectic day. I'll never ever forget it.
