Today I'm going to share a famous food in Sri Lanka that is made at least once in a week in our homes; Coconut Salad. As Sri Lanka is a tropical country, coconut trees are richly grown here. Therefore we have different kind food made out of coconut. Coconut Salad or else Pol Sambol is a spicy food made out of scraped coconut. This is taken into meal with rice, string hoppers, hoppers etc. This is an easy food that can be made in 10 mins and the process is really simple. I know that every kid can easily grab it and try this at home.

Let me tell you how to make a perfect dish of Coconut Salad.....

Ingredients

Scraped coconut
Chilie powder
Salt
Maldives fish
Shallot
Garlic
Pepper
Curry leaves
Green chilies
Lemon

Method

First you have to grind Maldives fish, Shallot, garlic, green chilies, pepper and curry leaves well using a mortar and pestle.

Next add salt and chili powder to the mortar and once again grind all the ingredients well.

Then mix the grinded stuff with scrapped coconut and grind them altogether using the mortar and pestle.

Finally put the Coconut Salad in to a dish and add the juice of lemon and mix well.

Now it's time to taste our delicious Coconut Salad dish....
