As humans, we all have responsibilities towards our families. One who takes care of his or her responsibilities are known to be responsible individual.
Everyone wants to be responsible and not the other way round. But sad to say that most people inadvertently fail to be responsible.
It could be that one neglects his duties in the office, at home or wherever one finds himself and this doesn't go well at all.
The worst of it all is when a parent neglects his or her responsibilities towards their family and especially their kids. This could have negative effects on these innocent kids and the society at large.
Hence, this week's engagement challenge contest in steem kids and parents community has been carefully chosen to help expose some of the dangers of neglects in families. I am involved and everyone is also involved. I will be using the contest tips to explore the meaning and effects of neglect in the family. What does neglect of responsibilities mean in a family🙇?
In a family, both the father and the mother have been given a divine responsibility of caring for their families. That title, father or mother come as a result of having kids of their own or adopted. And as such, it goes with responsibilities.
From the day a child is born, it becomes the primary responsibility of the parents to feed the child, cloth the child, house the child and ensure that the child is happy and has the freedom to enjoy life as they are also enjoying or even more.
The basic human rights of humans apply also to the child and should not be denied in any way. It is even best not to give birth to a child than after giving birth, the child is neglected.
Hence, the neglect of responsibilities in a family is when a father or mother fails to care for his or her family responsibilities of feeding, clothing and housing their kids including providing emotional supports to these kids.
Whether knowingly or unknowingly, anyone who fails to discharge his or her duties or, who gives insufficient attention to the duties he or she has in the family as parents has neglected his or her roles.

Growing up, i have had the opportunity to be cared for by those I lived with including my parents. I have not been neglected and I haven't felt such in my life. Those who I stayed with took it upon themselves to provide for my needs irrespective of how tough things might be. I haven't gone necked, or stay without food neither have I been left on the street without home. I have been cared for and for this I will forever remain grateful to all who in one way or the other contributed in no small measures to see to it that I survive till this day.
However, most kids may not have been lucky as I am to receive the needs attention. I have seen kids who are left on the streets to care for themselves. No home, no food and no clothes. They only depend on strangers to care for them and in most cases they are not.
I want to acknowledge the fact that circumstances can make kids to be left alone. It may not be entirely the faults of parents. Most are victims of circumstances like war, death, disasters and so on.
However, there are also some parents who do not give proper attention to their families. Some are as a result of divorce and remarriage, others are as a result of economic situations, and still others are as a result of outright negligence on the part of the parents.
Some give birth to too much kids than they can care for and as such can not be able to care for most of them. Some are not even prepared to shoulder the responsibility of parenthood and as such, they give birth and throw the kids away.
On the streets of each city in my country, there are those kids who have been neglected who are beaten by rain and sun. They end up begging on the streets. Some turn to armed rubbers in the end, some become prostitutes and wayward.
A neglected child can be exposed to rape, abuse of different kinds and the feelings of insecurities.
👉Your advice to parents who neglect their responsibilities towards their kids.
Never neglect your child. Look for him or her and take up your responsibilities.
It is very bad that one will decide to give birth and then abandon the child. It is best to remain without a child than consciously neglecting your duties as a parent.
If the economic situations has pushed you to neglect your duties, please embrace it and strive harder. Let the kids feel the warmth of having parents. I am not saying that you must give them 100% attention but you must do your part no mather the matter.
Give birth to how many kids you can be able to care for no matter how situations turn out tomorrow.
View the kids as blessings from the Almighty and this do not throw them away thinking that you are not ready. You can simply hand the kids over to someone who can care for them even though this is not the best option but it will go a long way to show your commitment.
Pray always for the blessings of the Almighty and the wisdom to always care for your kids.
👉Your advice to the kids who are neglected
Do not be embittered because you have been neglected. Revenge will not solve the problem. Rather try to see if Yu can survive wherever you find yourself.
Cultivate humility, respect and kindness towards those who have decided to take you home and care for you. You will thus find favor with both men and God.
Pray always and work hard as much as you can. Be strong of heart and accept your lot in life while we all wait for a perfect world in the future from the Almighty
Conclusion
Neglects of responsibilities towards our families should not even be heard. We all need to try our best to shoulder our responsibilities no matter what.
