Wednesday – I spy with my little eye – Mini contest (42)

Hello kids and parents!

Here we are, getting together for another exciting week!

I hope that you are well and that you are enjoying the Steemit Engagement Challenge Season 9. I must admit that this season is HOT with lots of nice topics to write about.

Talking about hot, so is our “I spy with my little eye” game. Let’s look how hot it is by starting with last week’s clues.

1. It is a 9-letter word that starts with “E”
2. It is an adjective
3. It is given by someone
4. It is given to something

And the word is… “EPONYMOUS”

Harry Potter is an “EPONYMOUS” and if you still don’t know what the word means let me explain it in more detail.

An “EPONYMOUS” is the hero or heroine who is also a character in a book or play where the name or title of the book or play is named after this character. In this case, "Harry Potter."

Harry Potter = character in a book = the title of the book is Harry Potter

Dictionary.com describe “EPONYMOUS” as follows.

Eponymous is used to describe someone who has given their name to something or has had something named after them, as in I met the eponymous owner of Sally’s Restaurant at the farmer’s market yesterday.

Eponymous can also be used to describe works of art that are named after their creator or lead fictional character, as in In Robinson Crusoe, the eponymous lead character lives alone on a deserted island for 28 years.

Eponymous is a fancy word used to describe things (restaurants, books, movies, etc.) that are named after a person. One of the more common uses of eponymous is in articles or stories about the history of something that’s named after a person who is still alive or involved. For example, Walt E. Disney created his eponymous company, The Walt Disney Company.

And that kids and parents is how we all learn.

Can you think of an “EPONYMOUS” here on Steemit?

That brings us to the winner…
Unfortunately, despite all the excellent guesses, there is no winner, which means the prize for next week is 4 STEEM.

Time for your next game!

The game is exactly like last week;

The game “I spy with my little eye” is sort of a detective game. The “spy” is the person who sees something and the rest of the players must then guess what the spy is seeing.

Of importance, it must be something that you can see and not something you can feel like an emotion.

BUT, “I spy with my little eye” is so much more than just a spy game;

  • It is a thinking game
  • It teaches you how to use your logic and reasoning and
  • It grows your vocabulary
