Happy birthday, Steem Kids & Parents!
For the last 2 years, the team has been supporting Steemians posting in this community. We know that these 2 years mark only the beginning of many more, as Steem Kids & parents will continue growing from strength to strength. Wishing you all the best!
Let’s take a closer look at last week’s clues.
1. It is a 10-letter word starting with “J”
2. It can be a noun or a verb
3. It can bend
4. It can make a sharp angles
What a week of guessing it was! One Steemian's guest was "JACKKNIFED". If you look at the clues, you will see that the word can be a noun or a verb. The word jackknifed is a verb and not a noun.
Next, we had a Steemian guess of "JACKKNIFES" and then another with "JACKKNIVES".
And the correct word is "JACKKNIVES."
What do they say about two dogs fighting over a bone just for the third one to run away with it?
"JACKKNIVES" is the plural for jackknife. It can also be spelled "jack-knives."
When a noun ends in "fe" or "f," the word changes to "ves and/or s" in the plural form, for example, knife=knives and dwarf=dwarfs.
It is one of those cases where there is no specific rule. It is something you have to know.
Jackknives, as a noun, are knives with a folding blade. They can be pocket knives, kitchen knives, or even combat knives.
Jackknives, as a verb, are those dreadful exercises whereby you have to do sit-ups, crunch your body, and touch your toes. This exercise is good for your abs and core.
This week, we have a winner! And the winner is @princa.
Congratulations!
Time for your next game!
The game is exactly like last week;
The game “I spy with my little eye” is sort of a detective game. The “spy” is the person who sees something, and the rest of the players must then guess what the spy is seeing.
Of importance, it must be something that you can see and not something you can feel, like an emotion.
BUT, “I spy with my little eye” is so much more than just a spy game;
- It is a thinking game
- It teaches you how to use your logic and reasoning and
- It grows your vocabulary
The contest
For today, I am going to give you the letter with which the word starts plus 4 points, or “clues,” that you can take into consideration to figure out what the word can be.
Ready or not… let’s learn, play, and win!
I spy with my little eye something that begins with the letter “B"
1. It is an 11-letter word starting with “B”
