Wednesday – I spy with my little eye – Mini contest (52)

Hello SteemKids and Parents!

Winston Churchill once said that he doesn’t mind learning, but what he doesn’t always like is being taught.

Let’s see if you are going to learn something from last week’s clues.

1. It is a 10-letter word starting with “P”
2. Part of the word is a fruit
3. It is of a smaller size
4. It is culled yearly

And the correct word is " PADEMELONS."

Kangaroos, wallabies, and pademelons fall under the Macropodidae, or Macropod family, of which pademelons are the smallest.

The name pademelon means "small kangaroo from the forest" and has actually nothing to do with a melon. It derives from one of the native languages of Australia, Aboriginal.

Pademelons can hop and leap as they have powerful hind legs. They use their thick tails for balancing when they walk and for power when they hop. Pademelon females carry their young babies in a "pouch" attached to their stomachs.

You will find pademelons mainly in Australia and New Guinea. What is interesting is that although their numbers has been drastically reduced over the last few years on Tasamania and other nearby islands they are culled yearly to keep the numbers small.

For those who don’t know, culled means "to thin them out."

I was convinced that this week there would be a Steemian who could guess the correct word. Well, I was wrong. Another week of no winners.

This brings the prize for our next game to a massive 9 STEEM.

Time for your next game!

The game is exactly like last week;

The game “I spy with my little eye” is sort of a detective game. The “spy” is the person who sees something, and the rest of the players must then guess what the spy is seeing.

Of importance, it must be something that you can see and not something you can feel, like an emotion.

BUT, “I spy with my little eye” is so much more than just a spy game;

  • It is a thinking game
  • It teaches you how to use your logic and reasoning and
  • It grows your vocabulary
