Wednesday – I spy with my little eye – Mini contest (56)

Hello SteemKids and Parents!

Last week we looked at the word "MAGNANIMOUS." A word that can be given to Santa. Unfortunately, it seems that Christmas indeed only comes once a year, as Santa was not so kind to help any of you with this week’s word.

Let’s take a last look at the clues of the last contest;

1. It is an 11-letter word starting with “D”
2. It can be a noun or an adjective
3. It is all about “thinking”
4. Superficial, no knowledge

And the correct word is "DILETTANTES."

Dilettantes is the word given to someone who pretends he knows everything about art when in fact he doesn’t.

The word originates as far back as the 1700s and was given to someone who was in love with art hence the meaning "lover of the arts."

In later years, the meaning changed completely, and now it is given to someone who pretends he knows everything.

In other words, it is like watching a violin lesson on YouTube and then pretending that you know all about playing it.

We are never too old to learn, not even as professionals, and not even here on Steemit.

Unfortunately there was no winner. This brings the prize for our next game to a 4STEEM.

Time for your next game!

The game is exactly like last week;

The game “I spy with my little eye” is sort of a detective game. The “spy” is the person who sees something, and the rest of the players must then guess what the spy is seeing.

Of importance, it must be something that you can see and not something you can feel, like an emotion.

BUT, “I spy with my little eye” is so much more than just a spy game;

  • It is a thinking game
  • It teaches you how to use your logic and reasoning and
  • It grows your vocabulary
