Face of my jollof rice

Hello fellow steemians. Welcome back to another week of the food contest. I ain't a foodie per say, but I enjoy cooking so much. Today, I'd be sharing with us how to prepare sumptuous jollof rice. So sit tight, as we learn and cook together.



Normally to kick off, we need to go to the market or store to get the ingredients for the food. So I have mine with me, and the steps begin:

Step 1

Parboil the rice and wash it. While parboiling my rice, it gives me time to get other things in place.

Here, I have my crayfish grounded, my dry pepper is available and the salt, groundnut oil and the maggi.
I'll be using chicken for the cooking which i had cooked already before parboiling the rice to make it easier to cook.

Step 2

Here my rice is washed and ready to be cooked. So I put the pot back on fire, allow it to dry and pour in my groundnut oil. The oil is what I'll be using to fix the rice.

Step 3

In this stage, the oil is heating up and I have to put in a little quantity of salt, onions and stir for a minute. The next thing to add here is my tin tomatoes, and keep stirring for another one minute, then add the other ingredients including the chicken, (some people prefer it fried, but I like it soft, so I go with the cooked one).

I have ginger and garlics here too, it's grated and will also be added to the stew.

Step 4

After stirring for a few seconds, I'll add a cup of water to the stew, depending on how soft it was while parboiling. I can sprinkle the left over onions I had here and leave it to cook. I also have with me some seasonings to grace my cooking. I have onga, curry and chicken flavour to promote the aroma of my food.


Step 5

The rice is ready to serve after 30minutes of cooking, and that's it. You can choose to add some vegetables to it towards the end.

Conclusion

That's the end of our cooking. You can choose to have this at anytime if the day.
