Day by day our demand for meat is increasing and the only way to meet it is to increase the production of domestic animals. Because this need can be met through domesticated animals. Milk, eggs and meat are more easily available to us. Today I am going to participate in this competition as a breeder. The fourth week of Season 14 of the STEAM of Animals community organizing engagement challenge is themed "Sustainable Animal Productivity and Environmental Footprints Towards Global Food Security".
Food security and adequate nutrition are fundamental rights of every citizen. Currently, animal husbandry has been established as a viable and profitable industry in Bangladesh. As a result of which cattle farms are increasing. Regularization of this animal husbandry and maintaining production is sustainable productivity.
There are some unscrupulous farmers in our country today who are fattening cows fast by feeding chemicals and producing unsafe food in the hope of making more profit, this is having an adverse effect on our humanity. Which is creating obstacles in the production of safe food. Apart from this, due to lack of sufficient amount of grazing land for animal production, there is a hindrance in animal husbandry. Because the staple food of cattle is grass which is almost non-existent now (except cultivated grass).
In order to increase the amount of milk, grass is needed in the diet of cows, which is not enough in our country at the moment. As a result, different techniques are being adopted in milk production and the result is the presence of harmful lead in milk. In this milk is not safe for us. On the other hand, enough pesticides are being used to increase the agricultural production, which reduces the fertility of the land, but the temporary increase in production can later take a dire form.
In order to produce safe food by avoiding our greedy mentality and producing fair and safe food, we need to create grass land for these animal feed so that large pastures will meet the demand of safe meat.
On the other hand, agricultural land should stop using more pesticides and use organic fertilizers and moderate use of chemicals. Excessive use of chemicals on agricultural land is disrupting integrated fish farming. If we cannot secure our food, we will join the death march at some point. This may be the result of our hope of greater profit and carelessness.
