Statistics is some data we collect to make probabiliy analysis, and also to do registration analysis of what is happening. We do statistics to do things even better, i.e. that is to improve ourselves!
We can make analysis of different variables. If we are using just one variable, we are calling the analysis for univariate analysis. We are then checking for instance how much there is raining in the weather, and if this goes up, is constant, or goes down from period to period. When we analysis is bivariate, we have two kinds of answers, and these can be yes or no. We can follow our working registrations, and how the work is going. The the analysis is multivariate, we have many variables in the analysis. And we can make presentations about if things have changed since the earlier investigations, or if the data has been constant. When having one variable, two variables and more than two variables, we are also having parameters on the variables, and the parameters mean how strong the change has been for each relevant variable in the investigation in question.
We always have a sample, where we are working, and a population. The population is the complete frame of analysis. We can make descriptive analysis or inferential analysis with the data. If we are using descriptive methods, we are just collecting trends and different measures of the nature of measurement with the data. And if we are using inferential methods, we are guessing from the sample how the situation can be in the population. We have several indicators when doing statistics, and we also have skewness and kurtosis.
So, we are just using statistics to get information about the uncertain reality making things clear and more certain! We use statistics in many variants of many kinds, among other things we are using them in weather forecasts, predictions about the future, and market analysis of what is happening in some organizations and in the markets. Knowing what to know now, is a knowing playground with the nature. We are trying to make hypotheses about the nature, that is about guessing how the state of nature will be in the future. And we are counting figures, and making different counting techniques. We are counting whiich alternative is happening about all the incidents that we have data for. We are always collecting data to make statistical analysis, and we are using theory and methods to explain what is going on. The books are filled with descriptions and guesses about how we are trying to explain the past, the present, and the future. And we are making probability guesses, where we are trying to collect data, and get the analysis about which incidents that can happen, and the probability for each of these incidents. As humans, we are living and working in a reality that is changing, and where we are finding variations, and statistics is used to cope with the uncertainty in nature. Our life is always uncertain, and we should thank the God every day about giving us the life to live even more! But when doing business, we should use business analysis, business courses and thinking sensible about what is going on. And if you are staring with your eyes, that is the best situation you can be in in life!
Is there a life without statistics? Of course, we can always live with freedom and no information. But we do not go into the reality different places when just thinking and doing nothing. Instead, statistical analysis help us to stracture the data and the registrations, and to do the work even better and in stronger ways. And everything should be kept as simple as possible, but not simpler. So, in statistics, we have this development as in all other sciences. There are concepts to explain, and we are collecting empirical evidences for the nature. And functions and valuation are something we are doing to understand how the reality is operating. Therefore, we need statistics! And we can make statistics about everything that is uncertain, for instance options, futures and forwards in finance!
