When we read a post on Steemit, or an article on a website, it's easy to forget (or not notice) how much effort has gone into it. Whether that's online research, travelling to a destination, painting a picture or spending every moment of your free time writing a text-based game, all we see is something that may consume just 5 minutes of our time.

I feel like this is one of those posts.

The game's been a hard slog since my last update 5 days ago. Whilst I don't feel like I've achieved a great deal, I probably have. Amongst other things, I've rewritten some large chunks of code to allow them to be used in every apartment on every floor. I need to do something similar for the interactions in the corridors but I'm too scared to do this just yet.

The biggest stumbling block I've faced was my bright idea to introduce some "non-zombie" characters that you can interact with. I've not had to worry about this yet but now that @chriddi has stumbled across one such character (codename P0) and having chosen not to attempt to cave his head in with her Frying Pan, I now need to write some dialogue.

Whilst this has been difficult to get my head around, I also feel that it could be the most exciting part of the game. I've designed 3 such characters, each with their own personas and I can't wait to see what decisions people make when meeting them and implementing my ideas based upon the outcome of these conversations.

I'm still at a stage where I'm running the code manually, simply because there's still too much to write and I don't trust the game yet to look after itself. It keeps doing stupid things, which take far too long to rectify.

So this probably isn't the most exciting update that I'll ever write, but I hope you're as excited as I am to see what chriddi chooses next 🤣

Once again, a big thanks to everybody who has an active game that is helping me to get through so many scenarios - my sense of purpose / duty to keep the game going for you is what's keeping me motivated. And also, thank you for your patience - I hope you're having fun 🙂
