I have been an environmentalist ever since I could remember. Consumption society damages the Earth with more wastes, more pollution day by day. People can be a part of a nature-friendly lifestyle by changing their habits. I am a fan of the EARTH. That’s why I chose environmental engineering as my profession.
I wanted to create awareness on STEEM. I announced the Before & After Contest 8 weeks ago as a way to do this.
I tried to reach my contest to large audiences. I communicated with people like @pennsif, @habercitr, @masumrbd, @rishabh99946 who share lists of contests regularly. I read the achievement #1 posts of newcomers, and invite them to my contests if they mentioned that they are interested in design, environment, art, DIY etc.. I wrote my invitation comments in their native language as much as possible. So, many people came to join the contest all around the world.
I have desired to create a mechanism which rewards creative people who design and create environmentally friendly artworks, tools, toys, clothes, and many more…
I always wanted to reward more people. Therefore I increased the number of winners 2 times during the previous weeks. And I distributed many bonus prizes. I was rewarding all of the participants in the last 3 weeks. I have never withdrawn my STEEMs. I distributed most of it as contest rewards and powered up the rest. I’m so happy to be a part of this initiative.
But the earnings of my posts dropped day by day. Shortly after, I became unable to power up any STEEM. I kept distributing the prizes with the STEEM which is not yet powered up. At that point, I noticed that It’s not possible for an account of mine's size to sustain this contest without regular support from followers or without powering down. Powering down was not a choice for me. Because I always support and recommend powering up. I also didn’t want to tag @steemcurator01 to avoid polluting the notifications section.
Today, I decided to PAUSE the contest. In the coming days, I will search for various ways to promote the contest. I will develop new projects which may generate value on STEEM.
We made good friendships around the idea of environmental sustainability thanks to this contest. I am lucky that I met many creative people during my contest. They designed artwork or useful stuff. Also they knitted stuff. It made me super happy to see them in this contest with their creative and environmentally friendly works from all over the world. My participants' countries were India, Indonesia, Argentina, Philippines, Turkey, Bangladesh, Cameroon, Japan, Pakistan, Venezuela, Uganda, Nigeria, Ghana, Peru, and more.
