A couple of years ago I was visiting the islands Orkney and Shetland (Scotland). Tiny islands in the North Atlantic. Windswept and barren, hardly any trees. The photos are all taken in the Orkneys, but at different places.

This group of islands are located north of Scotland. These islands have had habitation since the Stone Age. There are lots of historical sites that goes back several thousand of years. Archeological sites and massive stone circles does prove this long history. The vikings also settled here around a thousand yeas ago. History is evident over all of the islands.
