El Congressso or the Natonal Congress in Buenos Aires is where the seat of the national legislature is. It's located at the end of Av. de Mayo. When you stand by the Casa Rosada at the Plaza de Mayo and walk in a straight line about 2 kilometers down the street, you will see this beautifull, dome-shaped building that was constructed between 1898 and 1906. The National Congress is where Argentina's legislative assembly sits. The congress is divided into a senate and a chamber of deputies. The total number of members is 329.

It is worth walking down the street if you are in the somewhere around Plaza de Mayo. I don't know if it is possible to enter the building. There might be areas open to the public. We didn't check that out. We enjoyed the view from the outside. There are other interesting building of architectural value on the way from Plaza de Mayo. Worth making a stop here too, like Palacio Barolo.

Buenos Aires, the capital of Argentina was established in 1580, but it was not until 1776 that it was declared the capital of the Viceroyalty of Río de la Plata. The city had until then had no major importance, but that changed after it was declared the capital. In 1816, Argentina became an independent country. The country also has a history that can be linked to military coups, dictatorships, violence and demonstrations. For the first time and after a revision of the constitution, elections were held for the first time in 1996.
