Being a tutor is one of the activity I enjoyed as a university student, this skills always drive me to learn and understand better, I have always take it as an action I enjoyed in teaching my fellow mates who have lesser understanding on a topic, it's an interesting skills to posses and this gives you chances to more knowledge as well.

Whose teacher are you? Do you teach for a living?

I am more of a tutor, and this combined with the fact that I only engage with my fellow students and I have never done a teaching job for a living.

My major part of academics are physics and mathematics relating subjects, I am very vibrant in this , I find this topic easier to navigate, so this sort of gives me advantage over my fellow students, so in a scenario whereby they are having hard time reading or understanding a topic in the field, it's my pleasure to always put them through it.

My major field is to coach other students, when I was in 300 level, I was major to coach those below me, I have always done this for free and it's always my pleasure to make others have a better understanding of what I know better, so as this case, they gained knowledge while I also gain experience.

What challenges have you faced as a teacher?

On my first Journey being a tutor, I had many challenges which gets better as times goes on.

The challenge I have the most is being shy, yes!!, I am sort of less social and always feel shy whenever I am in front of a board teaching lots of student, there are time when the words I intend to say just escape my mouth from this feeling and this is one of the greatest challenge I had back then.

Ambiguous Words For Understanding - This is also another challenges I faced, there are couple of times I might have gone to a couple of lengths of teaching, then I could dail back for my Tutee to run the topic again, only for me to learnt that the words has been to ambiguous for them to grasp.

Accused of not being friendly - most students love a friendly teacher, and I have gotten this from my experience, I prefer going straight forward to a topic without checking the students activity, but this brings less interaction between us, but as time goes on, I learn that this might be a challenge and I made a quick adjustments to become friendly.

How do you create a learning environment that is both stimulating and supportive?

From my experience of being a tutor, I could agree that a stimulation environment is equally important for studies.

The moral of conduct is to find a safe place for studying and equally conducive, finding a comfortable environment is important as this gets them more relaxed and they will be happy to have a friendly interface to interact with.

Another important thing to add is to create a competitive topic, I have always tasks my Tutee on a competition, this will make them to be more gingered and take the coaching seriously, this will get them stimulated and create an impression for them to be better.

What professional development opportunities have you pursued to improve your teaching practice?

Teaching is not my profession, I only do this to help out my fellow students who have a less understanding of a topic.

The professional development I have always done in this aspect is to stay ahead of the course, whenever I have a time scheduled for a tutorial, I personally go through the topic I intend teaching for a couple of time, then this gives me confidence of tackling the tutorial and having more understanding.

And also, I have always sync the habit of tutoring from my notes, I don't make exceptions of this as I trust that the notes is more comprehensive than the textbook, and also this contains of the keypoints I intend tutoring, doing this gives a better impression of what I plan to teach and also make it more easier for the Tutee to understand.

At present, higher education is very expensive. What is your opinion on this, or is there any alternative to it?

Higher education has become important in the world and the society we live in, we see those without this opportunity has people who are not serious or won't have there life figured out.

Higher education to the Degree level comes at a great expense , but in the end, we have always hope it worth it, in most countries like Nigeria, there are various Universities where we have State, Private and Federal.

The Federal institution are less expensive with government covering 90% of the tution fee, this is still a better option, but education doesn't comes for free, it's meant to comes at a cost, funding an institution is not an easy task, it requires lots of resources and top officials.

The other alternative to education is Securing a lucrative skills, all roads leads to success, most people in the university are there with the hope of figuring what they should do with their lives, and someone with a learned skills can as well do this. or better still, there are lot of options like taking courses from Udemy online courses and this still guaranteed a certification to be able to enroll a job with .

Conclusion

Here come my conclusion on the topic "I am a Teacher", this profession comes with a lot of activity, especially in the higher level, as a lecturer , you have to devote your times to alot of research and project topics.

This comes at a very great cost, and it's not a simple tasks for the average civilian, education comes at a great cost, but not only education leads to success, there are various individuals out there without a degree and yet have made names for themselves through other skills.

Thank you everyone for reading up, I hereby invite @solexybaba and @Sahmie to participate in the contest as well.
