That feeling when you lost something or someone important to you is never a good experience, especially if you lost it out of carelessness, stolen or probably you forgot it unintentionally. I've experienced this many times and still recovered it but the one I'm about sharing, made me emotional for the first time.

Have you ever lost something that was very important to you?

Yes I have lost not just something but some things which includes money, an important document in school, charger and other objects. Among these, only one stands out. I lost my bag which my newly bought textbooks, exercise books, manual and other important documents were contained. I lost it to thieves whose intentions were to steal my phone, thinking it was inside my bag during a practical.

What emotions did you experience upon losing the item

My bag has always been my most valued treasure in school as it contained my phone which I barely brought out, important documents we do use during lectures and examination and my notebooks. My emotions were worst than that of those who lost loved ones in dead.

On leaving my bag where everyone left theirs to submit my practical work in the crowd, coming back to see just a pen in the space of my bag. At first, I wasn't moved. I started searching for it not until it dawned on me that the bag was taken. Tears rolled down my eyes. I started thinking about life like someone who's planning to achieve something huge. I was bitter at heart. Couldn't express how I felt to anyone even with the consolation.

Did you do anything to find it? What was the result?

I asked my classmates although it was futile because it wasn't just our department that were in the lab but 9 other departments. So looking for the bag after the practical was a waste of time although I did search for it. I placed a price tag for anyone who sees it. I then posted it online for the masses to check. The result was negative. No one saw the bag. Others tagged me careless not minding the reasons behind the loss. I started becoming suspicious of some people who were envious of me.

A week later, one of my coursemates brought my notebooks and presented them to me saying he saw it scattered on the floor close to the laboratory. I felt the pain again but was relieved that i found my notebooks. It's wasn't an easy task though. Many learnt lessons from me.

What steps do you follow to avoid losing such Precious items in the future

The steps I'm currently taking to avoid such loss again is quite absorbed although for the best. I bought a small bag that can contain some books so I'll be able to take it in such crowd when necessary without being robbed. In a case when I want to enter the library, I'll remove everything the bag has even if it's a bottle and enter the library.

Or sometimes, I don't bring my bag especially for such practical. My institution really taught me great lessons. Ever since my bag lost, people's phones began missing everyday.... It became so serious that some of us planned on tracking these thieves.

In Conclusion, losing something important especially money can be the most painful or disheartening thing and can make one depressed. Thanks for going through.
