Home of Great poet "Michele Modhusudan"

Today I am going to share with you a memorable place in Bangladesh, that can make all the Bangladeshi proud. That place is none other than Sagordari, home of Michele Madhusudan Dotto in Jessore. He is a famous poet in Bangladesh. He was born on 25 January 1824 in Jessore, Bangladesh. Jessore is my hometown, if you do not know that!

Anyways! All the people in Bangladesh know Michcle Modhusudan Dotto. He is called “Mohakobi” in Bangla, which means the “Great Poet”. He is one of the people in Bangladesh that we feel proud about. He was so brilliant and creative. I read a lot of his poems when I was in kindergarten and high school. He is a famous poet. In the high school section, we have a lot of poems about him.

I have read a book that describes his whole life. He was not only creative about writing poetry but also a kind person in real life. He was a son of “Jamidar” that means a person who has a lot of land and wealth. He was the only son of his father. He used to help people a lot. I have read in a book that, whenever he used to ride a rickshaw, he never counted the money. He used to give it whatever money came in his hand after he took money from his wallet.

And, if I start describing his skill of writing, I will not be able to finish it. He had a god gifted sharp brain. He has written a lot of books and poems and compared them to other poets of that time. He used to write his poems by people. What he did was, he used to sit in the middle and two people used to write two different poems that Michele said. So think how brilliant he was! I was surprised when I read all of this story.

Last week, I visited his home with my family. I feel so happy. People from Jessore make a huge statue of Michele Modhusudan Dotto. I am happy that people have started taking the initiative to preserve our pride and famous things.

I saw a lot of old things that Michele Modhusudan used to use. I saw his hand writing but unfortunately we were not allowed to take pictures of it. But I have some pictures that I took there. I will try to share some of my pictures.

I am hoping that most of the people in Bangladesh who have finished high school level, they know that river is that in this picture.

This is a famous river called “Kopotakkho Nod”. Our Mohakobi wrote a poem about this. Every single line of that poem was giving us the value of the river and how our poet’s childhood connected with this river. I read that poem in class seven. Still I remember how smooth and lovely the vibe was about this river.

As a jessorian in Bangladesh I feel so much proud of Michele Modhusudan. I am inviting all of my Bngladeshi and Foreign friends in seemit to visit this place.

Thank you so much for staying with me till now. I really appreciate it.

Once again Thank you
Regards
