Proximity: When someone is far away or not a regular presence in my life, it becomes easy to forget or think less of them. If I don't see or interact with someone often, they don't occupy my thoughts as much as those who are consistently present.

Communication: Regular communication plays a vital role in maintaining relationships. If I don't contact or limit contact with someone, they can slowly fade from my thoughts and become less prominent in my mind.

Emotional connection: The depth of emotional connection also affects how the phrase applies to the people in my life. If I have a strong bond, even when someone is physically far away, they can still occupy my thoughts and hold an important place in my heart. On the other hand, people may be forgotten or become less relevant in my mind due to weak emotional connections.

Shared experiences: People who have shared meaningful experiences or spent significant time together are more likely to be in my thoughts, even out of sight. Memories and shared moments help maintain a sense of connection and keep them from slipping from my mind.
