Good day steemians how are you all doing today and if you ask me I'm doing great, today I will be participating in a contest organised by @ripon0630 titled "Save Youth from Drug Addiction"
In my entry I will be sharing with you all what I think is the reason why some youths become addicted to drugs also the extent of drug addiction in my society and much more, so do well to read, comment and let's learn together.
WHAT DO YOU THINK ARE THE MAIN REASONS FOR YOUTH TO BECOME ADDICTED TO DRUGS?
Drug addiction is a common thing today and most of our youths can't even survive a day without drugs. There are so many reasons why some youths get addicted to the use of drugs some of which I will explain below;
- Early usage
- Peer group
- Depression
EARLY USAGE
This is considered one of the most prominent factors that causes youths to be addicted to drugs, it's all about the early exposure to the use of drugs without family or Parents involvement which result in a lifetime addiction.
PEER GROUP
Peer group influence is also a factor that causes young youth to be addicted to drugs, an individual keeping bad company will be easily influenced be their behaviour thus promted into the use of drugs
DEPRESSION
This also cause people to become addicted to drugs you see a person taking hard drugs just to forget some of his or her life problems which at the end becomes and addiction
There are so many factors that cause an individual to be addicted to the use of drugs some of which also includes family history, mental health disorders, socioeconomic challenges, over exposure to drugs etc.
WHAT IS THE EXTENT OF DRUG ADDICTION IN YOUR SOCIETY? DO YOU THINK IT'S IMPORTANT TO PREVENT DRUG ADDICTION AMONG YOUTH?
The level of drug addiction in our society is 95% percent high as almost all the youth including women has resorted into the use of drugs and other harmful substances.
In our society almost all the youth are weed smokers and it has affected them both physically and mentally and even women also are smoking weed here and there and drinking hard drinks.
And now some secondary school boys who have not even reached 18 years has already started smoking, some of them will go inside the bush to smoke which is very bad

And as you can see in the above picture, infact the picture alone has said it all the man took some God knows what and it turned his brain and he became unconscious and was just lying on the ground talking nonsense.
HOW CAN YOU ENCOURAGE THEM TO MAKE HEALTHY CHOICES AND WHAT STEPS DO YOU THINK WOULD BE EFFECTIVE TO SAVE THEM?
The government of our country has tried their best but still it's not effective, they government has made a law that who ever is being found with drugs of any kind should be arrested and to smokers the federal ministry of health has warned that "smokers are liable to die young"
And there even draw a normal human lungs and a smokers lungs all dark and brown so that at least it will help discourage them from smoking but still not effective.
To me the only way that I think would be effective in encouraging them to make healthy choices is to enlighten them more about the dangers and consequences involved in the taking of all this hard drugs.
And also educating them on the internal, physical and social impact on the abuse and used of drugs and also promoting for them a positive mechanism or therapy that will help lessened their overall state of depression thus encouraging them to always stay positive and in a nice and appealing approach.
And I also think that the most effective way to save them is by creating a friendly learning environment which will help educate the young ones growing up to the world on the dangers involved in the use of drugs and also early intervention should be made necessary so as to guide our young ones to grow up and live a drug free Life.
