INTRODUCTION |
We've all heard popular sayings like "to go fast, go alone, to go far, go in a group", how true can this be? How do you consider the word TEAM being translated as "Together Everyone Achieves More"? How true can all this be? In that light we also have "Teamwork, makes the dream work" and here is what you need to know.
What does the phrase "Teamwork Makes the Dream Work" mean to you? |

Before heading into the meaning of the phrase, let's take a look at what teamwork is all about.
Teamwork is simply the coming together of two or more people, working to achieve a common goal. That is, every member plays his role for the good of the team. Hence the saying Together Everyone Achieves Much as a win for one is a win for all.

Effective and efficient teamwork truly makes the dream work as even one of the world's greatest inventors attested to this fact.

So then, here is what I understand from the phrase "Teamwork makes the Dream Work".
This is an original phrase by Clergyman John Maxwell, which reads as;
"Teamwork makes the dream work, but a vision becomes a nightmare when the leader has a big dream and a bad team." - John Maxwell
To my understanding, this phrase means that when a team collaborates positively to achieve a common goal, they can achieve even their wildest dreams.
It means that having to share the tasks and duties within a team will lead to a better outcome than a single person doing all the tasks himself.
It implies that adequate teamwork achieves extensively more than any individual effort can, after all, no man is an Island of knowledge and with collective efforts comes creativity, division of labour, strength, and having each other's back to achieve a common goal.

This question intrigues me as it makes me look back, in the majority of days I've remembered, I have worked as a lone wolf, like G-Eazy, it was just me, myself and I. Cause I felt being alone wolf would help me count my profits and lose alone.
I only come to learn about the power of teamwork during my University days, when we would go to reading classes together to read and help each other out with the difficult ones, there I learnt that with teamwork, there is always an idea you didn't have.

Recently, I am working with a very wonderful team here on this platform, I wouldn't say team, but rather family in running the Healthy Steem community, my first teamwork on this platform.
I must say it's been an overwhelming experience for me as I get to learn from people I so look up to and exchange ideas too.
What obstacles did you face in working as a team? |

It is said that everything that has merits, has demerits. Hence, teamwork has its challenges and they are part of managing the team efforts. So far, the obstacles I've experienced in working as a team include;
Negligence of Duty:
This occurs when in a team only certain members avoid carrying out their duties at the time allocated, thus, increasing the workload on other members.
Poor communication:
This is another challenge of teamwork as communication is always an important aspect of every partnership or group work. Being able to communicate your ideas is very vital.
Trust issue:
Building trust among team members is crucial for productivity but when the team is low on trust, misunderstanding is not far from the team.

A productive team will carry you beyond your wildest dream, therefore, giving your the possibility to achieve more than you working alone. With teamwork, there is a lot one can achieve as certain and there are so many advantages of working as a team, such as;
Increase Efficiency:
There is a very popular saying that reads "Two heads are better than one" This means that teamwork is more efficient than working alone as they share the burdens and workload among themselves, hence getting to a final result in fewer minutes compared to working alone
Sharing the Workload:
With teamwork, comes the division of labour, with the division of labour, everyone contributes their piece to the workload, meaning we do bits to achieve much at the end and not one person doing everything.
Building Strong Relationship:
It takes the building of a relationship for two or more people to work together effectively and with teamwork, we build not just relationships but bonds for the greater good, that will hopefully last a lifetime.
Learning New Things:
Learning is an unending act till one is dead and buried and no man knows everything, hence with teamwork, everyone contributes their problem-solving techniques and ideas for the learning of others. This way, you get to learn new things you didn't know about.

Teamwork indeed makes the dream work as each member of the team gets to play a productive role in achieving a common goal, it is likened to a jigsaw puzzle where every member puts up together and gives out the perfect picture in the end.
