A radio-based communication system includes a mobile phone. The word "mobile phone" refers to the customer's handset and the phone, also known as a cellular phone system. These devices are also known as cellphones, handphones, and cell phones, in addition to being termed mobile phones.
Mobile phones communicate using radio waves and computer technology. Infrared light or infra-red, blue tooth, camera, gaming, business or economic, practical software, etc., were all able to be introduced as a result, in addition to speech, as were SMS or text message services, MMS or multimedia message services, e-mail services, Internet services, and others. Smartphones are mobile phones that offer various services and certain computer-like functions.
Earlier generations of cellular phones were first used for analogue radio communications on ships and railways. Motorola Company employees Dr Martin Cooper and John Francis Mitchell claimed the first mobile phone. They made the first successful call in April 1973 using a hand-held telephone that weighed roughly 2 kg (4.4 lb).
Communication in Bangladesh transformed in the 1990s because of mobile phone technology. But that was a challenging route to follow. Pagers were launched around the end of the 1980s, and many people wore them on their waist belts. Similarly, Bangladesh also saw the introduction of the Walkie Talkie mobile phone. Bangladesh became a new market for Hutchinson, Asia's first mobile operator.
However, Hutchinson and their Bangladeshi affiliate BTL, also known as "Bangladesh Telecom Limited," could not enter the mobile phone market even after receiving a license at the time. In 1989–1990, two people were observed holding an odd object on the streets of Dhaka, the capital of Bangladesh. The sight shocked people.
Citycell, the country's first mobile phone provider, decided to launch operations in Bangladesh, which was then considered to be a relatively underdeveloped nation. The mobile phone network was initially limited to Dhaka. A few days later, Chittagong was added to the network. But there were few people there. since the equipment capacity of the phone provider was likewise relatively low. Three businesses—Gramin Phone, Ektel, and Seva—got licenses to offer GSM mobile phone services 1996. This service immediately became widespread in Bangladeshi areas.
