SEC-S6W5 : "A memorable day with my friends".

Welcome to my blog today. This is my fifth entry in this week's engagement challenge. On this day, I will be presenting my participation in the contest titled "A memorable day with my friends". Everyone one time or another other has spent memorable moments with their friends. My case is not an exception and that is the reason why on this day I'm presenting my entry in that regard.

Based on the contest rules, I will be attempting a few questions below as a sign of my participation in the contest. Without any further ado, let's get started. Please read to the end as you may find the publication very interesting as well.

It was the exact day that we all passed out from the National Youth Service (NYSC) which is a one-year compulsory program for all Nigerian graduates. The program was never an easy one but as God will have it, we came, we saw and we conquered.

This very day was special because a lot of people started but couldn't complete it. And finishing NYSC is what qualifies you as a Nigerian graduate to go into the labour market because without the discharge letter from NYSC no government or private sector will employ you.

So passing out from the scheme qualifies us as complete graduates because we are free to use the certificate we have acquired to search for a job or even further our education. So we took lots of pictures on that day and also had a love fest to celebrate ourselves.

One of the most memorable activities we did on that day was that we had a love feast. We are all from different parts of the country and coming together to serve the nation hence on that very day, we all sat and share our various experiences and also talked about our different locations. It was indeed fun because I was able to learn about other people's way of life.

The funniest moment I experience during my time with them is the period we did truth and deer. A few friends among us were anti-social and have no idea how the game was played but since they are so happy and amid their colleagues for the very first time having fun they have to play alongside.

One of the incidents that made me laugh out so loud was when a brother was asked the truth or deer and said deer and he was deered to dance with one of the ladies holding each other. This is what he has never done before but since it was a game he had no choice. He was so shy to the point that the lady just sat on his legs and taught him how to dance. It was really funny.

I learnt a lot about them on that day. I never knew some of them were anti-social and that they don't know anything at all that is trending. Most of them were too spiritual that even the happening around them they don't know. Though I was also able to learn some beautiful things about them as well.

A few of them told us about some opportunities because we have been together for a year but never knew that most of them are rich kids so on that day most of them told us about their background and from what they said, some of their parents are prominent people and most of them promise that if there are any opportunities for jobs, they will inform us via group chat.

Of course, there are a few things we never expected but they happened on that day. One of the unexpected things that happened is that we planned to only come to sit together and have some drinks. We never budgeted for food on that day but one of our colleagues went behind us and made arrangements for food and we all were very surprised we saw food.

Nobody expected to come and eat on that day. We planned that everyone will drink at least a bottle of malt but we came and food, as well as bottled coke and bottled water, was given to everyone. It was later we were told that one of us sponsored the entire thing.

Sincerely, if we have the opportunity to have such a gathering again, I'm very sure many will sponsor a lot of things including myself. I was not ready on that day because I never expected it to be such a big deal. But if given the opportunity next time I will play my part and I guess a lot of people will do the same, especially now that a lot of people are working.

The day indeed impacted our friendship greatly because we all discuss extensively our backgrounds and those who came from a buoyant family also offer to help those who didn't come from buoyant families connecting them to all the opportunities that come as we continue our journey in this life.

The most meaningful conversation we had was about helping each other and ensuring that we all lift one another no matter the circumstances. We created a WhatsApp group and in this WhatsApp group, job offers and scholarships of all kinds are shared with all. So if such things are posted and anyone is interested he tries and if there is any job we get the information first and through that about 5 persons have gotten a job today.
