Visit the book fair at night and seeing Sisimpur for the first time

How are you? Hope you all are well by the God's grace. Today, I will share with you about my experience of visiting the book fair at night and seeing Sisimpur for the first time.

Amar Ekushe Boi Mela, widely known as Ekushe Boi Mela, is one of the traditional fairs of independent Bangladesh. Every year, this fair is held throughout February in the Burdwan House premises of Bangla Academy and around the Burdwan House. Since 2014, the Amar Ekushey Boi Mela has been expanded to Suhrawardy Udyan, opposite Bangla Academy. However, a part of the fair is also organised on Bangla Academy premises.

That afternoon, we got ready to go to the book fair. We left at 5 p.m. and took CNG to go towards Bangla Academy. Three of us went: me, my sister and my niece. I reached Doel Square within 30 minutes by CNG. Traffic in front of Bangla Academy is closed during the book fair.

A crowd was in front of the gate of Bangla Academy. Since there were fewer book stalls there, we went towards Suhrawardy Udyan. There are many book stalls on this side. We browsed the stalls while drinking coffee.

Then, in one corner, there was a small stage for Sisimpur. It was Saturday, so Sisimpur will come on that day. As a child, I watched a lot of Sisimpur on TV. This show is broadcast on the BTV channel. Never seen from the front. So today, I also stood behind the children and started waiting for Sisimpur. Today, we will see all the characters: Halum, Tuktuki, Ikri-Mikri, and Shiku. Then, one by one, all the characters came playing Sisimpur's song. The feeling of seeing them for the first time is indescribable.

I didn't buy books for me this time. I bought some books of Adarshalipi for the small children of our house. I also bought them more science fiction, ghost story books, etc. After buying the book, we went to the food shop. I went there and sat down in a chair. And ate chicken chap and luchi, coke, etc. Then I searched the stall of 10 Minutes School and saw Antiq Mahmud come.

Then I walked towards the lighthouse. The lighthouse looks very beautiful at night. And I like to see the water below the lighthouse.

After visiting the book fair, we took a rickshaw to the Mughal Darbar restaurant in Paltan. I went there, had coffee and pudding, took pictures, and came home. Today was a very good day. The book fair is result of a year's wait for book lovers.

The Ekushey Book Fair is associated with our Bengali national spirit. The love of our mother tongue and patriotism are expressed around this fair. The unique contribution of the Ekushey Book Fair to creating readers in Bangladesh is undeniable.
