How I came to know about Steemit?

Some of you may know me because I have been active on Steemit for the past month. However, some of you may not know me. This question intends to introduce myself, so let me do that now. My name is Waqar Ahmad Shah, and I hold an M.S. degree in Chemistry. However, I've always been interested in modern technology and constantly strive to learn something new. I'm of the opinion that without progress in technology and IT, we cannot compete with the rest of the world. Due to my passion for technology, I'm also enrolled in Google Digital Marketing & E-commerce Professional course offered by Coursera as well. As soon as I complete it, I'll share my experience on Steemit through a post.

Now, you may be wondering how I found out about Steemit. In my introduction post, I mentioned that I learned about it through a YouTube video. Towards the end of 2021, when I became familiar with cryptocurrencies, I watched many cryptocurrencies-related videos on YouTube. One day, I came across this video that introduced me to Steemit. Initially, I didn't understand much about Steemit, and at one point, I even took a break from it due to my study and research work. Nevertheless, I don't want to go into too much detail about that now, as this article will be very long.

My favourite community on Steemit

As I mentioned, I had to take a break from Steemit due to my research work and other circumstances. ๐Ÿ˜‘However, I have always believed that Steemit is a great platform for improving my writing skills. It gives you full authority over your content and rewards you for creating good content. When I returned to Steemit, I was initially unsure about what to write, ๐Ÿ˜• and it took me some time to understand what was happening in the various communities, as a lot can change in a year. I posted in a few communities but didn't receive much support, which was disappointing. ๐Ÿ˜ž

I didnโ€™t give up and to my surprise one day, I received this notification that my post had been chosen as one of the day's finest picks. ๐Ÿ˜ This was a great source of happiness, as it motivated me to keep writing and improving. Although I've made some mistakes in my writing, the Steem Kids & Parents Community has supported me a lot, so I am still on this platform.

I have observed that sometimes good content creators on Steemit often do not initially receive the support they deserve and struggle to build their reputations.

Anyway, my favourite community is Steem Kids & Parents Community. I'll always create valuable content in this community according to their theme of topics.

Role of admins and moderators in Steemit communities

Firstly, let me tell you about the importance of admins and moderators on Steemit. They are responsible for ensuring that the community operates adequately. The role of admins and moderators is to maintain a healthy and positive ๐Ÿ˜Š environment within the community. They welcome new users and guide them about the community's rules. If users do not follow the community's rules or post plagiarized content, admins and moderators give them a warning โš ๏ธtag. If they continue to violate the rules, they are muted ๐Ÿค from the community. Through the efforts of admins and moderators, the community is kept under control and in order. Moderators also organize contests in their communities to keep their community members engaged.

The leadership of my favourite community

Steem Kids & Parents Community is managed by @steemkidss, @simonnwigwe, @drhira, @goodybest, @endingplagiarism, @eliany, @chiabertrand, @bossj23, @udyliciouz, and @m-fdo. If I missed someone's name, I apologize. I regularly read their posts and give feedback to them. They are all working hard for the betterment of their community and support every member who follows the community guidelines. I have a request to all those whose names I have mentioned, please comment on this post and tell me what you know about me and whether I'm creating any value for your community or not.

How can communities on Steemit work better?

  • Community admins and moderators should have a clear vision and plan for their community. They must decide what content and activities they want to encourage within their community. Additionally, they should consider the feedback of their members.

  • Admins and moderators should engage with their community members; besides guiding their community members, they should also consider the feedback and suggestions from their community members. This way, members can gain good knowledge and information about the community and can contribute to it with their efforts.

  • There should be no favouritism. If selected and reputed users are repeatedly supported, newcomers will be disheartened. They also deserve proper support, which will leave a good impression on them about the Steem community.

  • Guidelines must be set to prevent AI-generated content in communities. Just check this post and you will know why I am saying it again and again in almost my every article. Recently, I've also written an article about ChatGPT on Steemit, which has some benefits, such as language translation. Still, some people are misusing it for the sake of quick money. I don't know how seriously the Steemit team takes this issue, but awareness is necessary. Every community should research and set proper guidelines for this. There are also many complexities involved in detecting AI-content, which I don't want to discuss here. Still, if you are interested, you can read my article and its comments.

Does your favourite community admin help you with any issues on the Steemit platform?

Well, my favourite community is being managed in a very thoughtful way by my dear friend Simonnwigwe. In contrast, the community's admin had to take a break from Steemit for a while due to the construction of her house. I stay in touch with Simonnwigwe through Discord and regularly seek his guidance. He even offered me the role of a moderator after seeing my work and especially my knowledge regarding the detection of AI content. Still, I declined because my account's reputation and SP are not high enough yet. So, I told him that I was not ready for this responsibility. However, as soon as I meet the requirement for the moderator role, I would love to work as a Steem Kids & Parents Community moderator. ๐Ÿ™‚
