Achievement 3 | Task : Content Etiquette | by @fredquantum (100% Powered Up)

Dear Steemians, it's my pleasure to be here this time of the day to share a few things about what I've learnt about this great platform. I joined a few days ago and it has been so awesome, I must say.

At this stage, I deem it fit to proceed to Achievement 3 with the task, Content Etiquette. I present to you with the full details below which will contain sharing, citing and stealing as the main body of this context.

First of all, things to be avoided while writing a content is Plagiarism. What do I mean by plagiarism? Let me take care of that in the new section.

WHAT IS PLAGIARISM

In my own word, plagiarism is the stealing of someone's intellectual properties such as thoughts, ideas, writings, picture or graphical representation and presented as one's original invention. The process of doing that is nothing but theft. The copying, sharing and use of other's work without permission is totally wrong and such act is plagiarism.

In some instance, when the writer is out of ideas it's normal to search for ideas and it becomes valid if the copied ideas or representation are properly acknowledged to the original owner of it if it doesn't violate some certain rights.

I will like to talk about three types of plagiarism in this context.

TYPES OF PLAGIARISM

  • Direct Plagiarism
This is a situation whereby a person copy others work directly without making any amendment, no citing and thereby present it as their original work. The action is nothing but infringement on the intellectual property of the original owner and thereby that act can be termed as theft.
  • Self Plagiarism
This is a type of plagiarism whereby an author copy directly from his or her previous works and presented it an entirely new project. The act is wrong and does not portray good knowledge of what writing is all about.
  • Mosaic Plagiarism
This simply means a situation whereby an author copy another author's work without due permission and even keep it as a whole representing something similar in structure or meaning as the original creator's.

THINGS TO DO TO AVOID PLAGIARISM
There are a number of ways to keep off the plagiarism zone. I will be putting them on the list below;

  • Always write from the scratch. Make it your original work.

  • Avoid copy and paste.

  • If there are reasons for you to use other people's work for yours, properly cite the source.

  • Give credits to the one that deserves it if you per adventure use their property.

  • Pictures and graphical representation should be properly cited.

  • Use direct quote or avoid quoting totally.

I will be dropping my pen at this point and I believed the above if properly followed will make one a worthy content writer.

Thanks to all that have of support throughout my young stay here, to @mato445 thanks for bringing me in and @focusnow, thanks for all you do. Special regards to @steemcurator01 and @steemcurator02.
