Plagiarism is the representation of another author's language, thoughts, ideas, or expressions as one's own original work.source.
This is to say that expressing, writing or rewriting another person's thought without citing the originator of the idea is tantamount to plagiarism. All materials, whether published or not, audio messages, soft copies, hard copies is subject to plagiarism. It is worthy to note that plagiarism could be done intentional or unintentionally.source.In any case,it is labeled plagiarism.Any group or person who engaged in plagiarism is called a plagiarist.

Plagiarism can take different forms viz: paraphrasing the idea without citations, copying verbatim, improper citations etc. However, plagiarism is a punishable crime.
TYPES OF PLAGIARISM
•VERBATIM (WORD TO WORD) PLAGIARISM

This type involves copying the original idea word to word without making any change.
Quotations must always be identified as such by the use of either quotation marks or indentation, and with full referencing of the sources cited.source.

•CUTTING AND PASTING FROM INTERNET WITHOUT ACKNOWLEDGEMENT
This type involves copying and pasting the desired page from a source but refusing to acknowledge the original owner of the work.
Information derived from the Internet must be adequately referenced and included in the bibliography.source.

•PARAPHRASING
This type of plagiarism entails rearranging or rephrasing the arrangement of the original work without aknowledging the original author. All published and unpublished material, whether in manuscript, printed or electronic form, is covered under this definition.source.

•INACCURATE CITATION
This is a situation, where the plagiarist cited wrongly. It is as good as not citing at all.It is important to cite correctly, according to the conventions of your discipline. As well as listing your sources (i.e. in a bibliography), you must indicate, using a footnote or an in-text reference, where a quoted passage comes from.source.

The above points are some of the types of plagiarism. It is not an ideal act.It should be avoided as often as possible.Special thanks to @focusnow.
