Hi Steemians,

Hope everyone is doing good.

After completing Achievement 1- the introduction of myself to the Steemit platform. Today I have come up with #Achievement2- regarding the Basic security at Steem. My attempt here is to explain what I have understood very simply and clearly. Hope this will be helpful.

By now you might have already known in this platform if your keys are lost you cannot retrieve unlike in other platforms. it is the very basic security information in Steemit platform. You need to keep your master password very safely. That means you need to save your password safely in a folder where you don’t miss the data. What I am doing currently is, I have saved the posting key in my phone for everyday logins and also saved it in my notes. Balance keys are saved safely on my laptop and in my drive. The first thing I learned from Steemit is to keep our password securely.

Question 1
Have you retrieve all your keys on steemit?
Yes, I have logged into my wallet by using the private owner key and then clicked the tab saying ‘’Keys and Permissions’’. I went through the details thoroughly and reveled my keys. I copied them carefully and saved it in a safer place in my laptop and the drive.

Question2
Do you know each of these key functions and restrictions?

There are many more keys and you can use them when necessary.

Master key/ Private owner key – If you want your account secured, Very important to save your master key in a safe place. Without the master key, you are unable to change your other passwords. If you lose your account, the Master key is essential to recover your account.

Posting Key – You can use this key for everyday logins and on iPhone, you can save the login password easily. From the name itself you can understand that this key can also be used to Post, Comment, and Vote and also to mute others.

Active Key – This is used when you have to make any transfers, conversions and can also be used to update your profile.

Memo Key – This key is not much useful, But can be used to avoid unauthorized access when sending and receiving massages.

Question 3
How do you plan to keep your master password?
The master password is saved safely in my laptop and in Google drive. So that I can easily access online and off-line whenever required.

Question 4
Do you know how to transfer your steem token to another steem user account?
I haven’t transferred any Steem token yet, But I understood the process by readying @kiwiscanfly/understanding-your-steemit-wallet-and-powering-up. I will follow the same if I need to make any transfer in the future.

Question 5
Do you know how to power up your STEEM?
I haven’t tried to power up my Steem yet, Hopefully I will join #SPUD4STEEM from next month.

A big thank you to @cryptokannon @besticofinder & @kiwiscanfly for your efforts to make us understand about Steemit platform. Your posts are very supportive and were easy to understand quickly.
