STREET ART #61 - Spring is in the air in Kristiansand (Norway)

DSC_01.jpg

Last Saturday I went to the city and passed the Art Museum of Kristiansand. Because of Corona it was closed. Since it's been a long time since I've been in the backyard I decided to take a look. There were no one else there, but me.

In the backyard there is another building where I found these colorful «windows». The motifs of flowers and bees reminds me of spring and new life.

The Art Museum is located in the premises of the former Latin School. The school was established in 1686 in connection with the city receiving a bishop's seats, which made it the oldest school in Southern Norway. At first it was located next to the cathedral, but mooved to another location in the 70s.

The museum exhibits and works with both visual arts and crafts, as well as conducting an extensive art-related activity which includes exhibitions of permanent collections, temporary contemporary art exhibitions and exhibitions for schools and kindergartens.

Efforts are made to create interests and competence enhancement in visual arts, crafts and other visual forms of expression. It's not just inside the building you will find art. At the front of the building you can see some instalation made in the some of the «windows» in the basement.

The outdoor art takes many forms. This one is found at the entrance. It's always nice when you happen to discover some new artwork in your own city.
