When the Splinterlands weekly challenge post came in and I saw players were challenged to use the Maggot in winning a match, my first reaction was 😕 this smiley, like I literally raised my eyebrows, who tf is Maggot?(excuse my french). Then I went ahead to check through my collection of cards and to my amazement, I found Mr.Maggot,...a 3 mana monster from the Death Splinter, with 1 life, and 1 melee damage, (no wonder it was easily under the radar, or so I thought.)

Then I delved more into it and found out that the Maggot monster was more of a bigger deal than I thought, if you follow my Splinterblogs, you'd know I'm a sucker for low mana cards that are lethal, as I like to refer to them as small but mighty, the Maggot monster is one of such and I'd tell you why.

This card is easy to overlook because at its lowest level it seems not to be all that useful, with just 1 life and 1 melee damage, and a special ability to attack the enemies weakest card in a snipe manner. But look at it at level 6,
where it not only has 2 melee damage and 2 lives but also has the ability to gain life when any monster dies, that is super cool if you'd ask me. Then at its highest level, it goes on to have 3 melee damage and 4 life's for start, lethal weapon!

So without any further ado, lets go into the battle. This one is quite a unique fight, as it involves just three monsters in my line up.

But not just any 3 monsters, its led by a legendary monster known as Lord of Darkness, a lethal card equipped with 8 lives, 2 shields and an ability to enrage which increases its overall damage points.

Followed by the MVP card Mr.maggot, and lastly followed by the famous furious chicken.

The battle was a 13 mana battle, it only made sense to use a combination of something lethal like the Lord of the Darkness and something small like Maggot, but it was also essential to use a no mana card like the chicken to protect the behind and did it work? Yes it did!

Though My Maggot monster was quick to die, it lost its only opportunity to eliminate the enemy monster when it shot and missed! However, Lord of the Darkness was able to bring home the win, thanks gracious.
