In memory of the worthy men who fell in battle, in 1977 the "Defenders of Stara Zagora" memorial complex was solemnly opened. Along with the 50-meter solid concrete structure symbolizing a flag stand the figures of six militiamen and a Russian officer. They also symbolize the six militia companies that deter the enemy Suleiman's hordes.
