A new week with a new contest. It is a pleasure to participate in the Steam Plant competition..
I came across these flowers after visiting a friend's house in Kandy. These flowers had grown naturally in a field near their house.

Friends, here is another flower species belonging to the sunflower family. As soon as you see it, you can think that this is a sunflower flower. No guys, this is another flower species of the sunflower family.

We in Sri Lanka call this flower Nattasuriya and wild sunflower. This flower has a good smell. Insects like bees are quickly drawn to the flower for its fragrance.

There is a story that sunflowers love the sun. That is because the flower turns towards the sun and develops. So is this flower.

This flower species requires a dry cool climate as well as sunlight to spread. A moist soil is a must. Propagation is by seeds. Pollination is mostly done by small insects like bees. Absence of heavy rain at the time of flowering and good soil moisture are very important for high seed yield.
