Monuments of my city: Cordillera Freedom Monument

image.png

This monument represents the bravery and the courage, the strength and that one purpose to protect our own. This is to honor our fallen ones fighting for our freedom not only for our country but also here in the Cordilleras.

You can find this monument at Igorot Garden, Baguio City. Here is the map from pinmapple where this is exactly located.

You can see that they held different kinds of weapons ready to fight. You can also see how strong and able-bodied they look like.

There's a little statue in the middle representing in honor of the gods obviously to protect these warriors and that hopefully they will win the battle.

At the base of the monument are shields and spears that surround the whole monument.

I took these photos while I was out for a walk one time. My initial intent was to take photos of the chess tables there but when I saw this, I realized it is a good entry for this contest.

Here are additional photos that I took:

We easily neglect the real meaning behind monuments like this. We should look back and remember and learn from them. Learn from our history and respect those who have come before us. Without them, we would not be enjoying what freedom we have right now.

Whenever you are in Baguio City and you get to pass this monument, say a prayer of thanks to our ancestors for what they have done for us. This is at the city center and near Bunrham Park so you will not miss this one.

This is my entry to @strawberrry's contest. For more information about that, you can click here CONTEST : Monuments and sculptures of my City #21 : Памятники и скульптуры моего города : SteemitContest.
