Assalamu Alaikum, I hope everyone is well.Alhamdulillah I am also good. Daily update of steemit garden along with learning new things. Knowing new things. Getting to know new plant world with variety. Today I am going to share another flower life variety.
The "Portalica" flower is native to Argentina, southern Brazil, including Uruguay, and is often cultivated in gardens. It has many other names. Notable among them are rose moss, eleven flower, Mexican rose, moss rose, Vietnamese rose,Portulika, Portiulaka, Portulika etc.
But in Bangladesh it is called time flower. Because it blooms at specific times. For example, it blooms from 9 am to 10 am and closes itself in the afternoon as the sun sets. It is also called by different names depending on the place. In the villages of Bangladesh it is also called as Ghassful although this is not the real name of this flower. In the cities of Bangladesh it is also called as "Pertulika".
It is a small but fast-growing tree growing up to 30 cm tall, although usually less. But if it is properly cultivated, it can easily exceed this height. Leaves are thick and fleshy, up to 2.5 cm long, alternate or in small clusters. Flowers are 2.5-3 cm in diameter, with five petals, variably red, orange, pink, white and yellow.
Cultivation and Care
It is cultivated indoors as a hobby and commercially outdoors, especially because of its variety of colors and beauty on the same plant. It needs adequate sunlight and moderate water in the soil. Watering every 2-3 days is not a problem. No. And one of its biggest advantages is that it produces new plants from cuttings, making it easy to propagate.
