MOTHS OR BUTTERFLIES

There was a time when I was obsessed with butterflies. Day and night butterflies of all kinds. How many needles stabbed with a needle and put in a wooden box on cotton wool and then closed with a window, how many dissections ... what could I say ... a true genius of science.

Then the hikes and nights spent in tents on hills with hayfields and bushes, forests, lakes, running waters. current generators ready to operate, as every night to attract all the fell of insects around the bulbs ... for obvious study. A cord tied to the car and a tree, on it lies a large white sheet… and the cables from the halogen bulbs are connected to the generator. Artificial light is more and more evident in the night that falls over the landscape… Fortunately for us, the Moon is not too full, and butterflies begin to come… When the Moon is full, fewer butterflies can be attracted, but their activity depends not only on the period of the night but also on various other parameters given by the weather… probably especially the temperature… and so on.
Butterflies revolve around the light bulb: some come and put themselves on the vegetation around us… Who knows how far they came from; for example, good flying sphinxes, if they detected this light from somewhere far away, flew towards it… as if attracted by the light at the end of the tunnel. If there were only a few hyper-camouflaged specimens during the day, and active at night in the forest… you had no chance of detecting these species if they were not attracted to light.

Butterflies. They live their short lives in these forests, hayfields and bushes. Beautifully colored or dull, butterflies… on summer nights through my childhood.
