The Diary Game 02/08/2021. The Positive Effects of The Pandemic.

Like any part of reality, the current pandemic has different facets, some that we can consider negative… others positive. If you look at this pandemic, you can see especially the negative effects on human civilization, so far there are over 4 million dead and many economic areas are de facto ruined.

We are beginning to get used to the situation, with new and new variants produced by biological evolution, some more unpredictable than others, plus closures in various areas, wave 4 and wave 40. At the huge front that this virus has at its disposal, a human population of 8 billion people - mostly without any immunity through vaccination, has all the chances to produce new and new variants, some of which are perfected so that there can be new and new surprises.

Plus, man spreads them easily in globalized movements, which, although dramatically reduced, are still fixed enough to easily spread contamination. The good part is that we have some fairly effective or very effective vaccines, but the reality is that the biological evolution of the virus is also rapid and protection is in question.

Anyway, mostly painful aspects. To which we must adapt and restore the system to a more resilient and decent level than before.

However more painful, we can also see the beautiful side of the pandemic. For example, it is quite clear that the ante-pandemic style could not last long; all the exponential growth of the human population combined with limitless economic growth, the raging frenzy that destroyed everything around us, de facto undermines our future.

It needed some braking, something to break the rhythm of a positive feedback process, runaway. It is possible that the ecosphere has some mechanisms of self-regulation, of maintaining the planetary homeostasis, through which it re-balances some elements.

By reducing the economic activity, the pollution of air, water, etc. has also decreased; by reducing the anthropogenic pressure, the wild animals had a period of respite, in which they had the opportunity to recover their populations, to diminish their losses and dramatic declines. Not much, but still something. The ecosystem as a whole can be more balanced.

And on a macro scale, these supposed homeostatic mechanisms like those of the Gaia theory can help us not get out of the picture by destroying everything - including our human future. It's as if before entering the abyss you run into some thickets that slow down the strange movement you had. Man as an individual and as a civilization has received another chance to introspect, to see what is really important, sustainability, health, science, knowledge, morality… aspects that he tramples on without any restraint.

It's just that from time to time the bill arrives. It was an essential idea… that it is not only important what happens to you from the outside but also how you react to what happens to you. Here is the essence of the problem.
