Coloro che seguono il mio blog, sanno che mi piace scattare foto qua e là mentre pedalo o passeggio. Capitando spesso che delle gare ciclistiche vengano organizzate nella zona in cui vivo, parecchi mesi or sono iniziai a immortalare i concorrenti impegnati nelle competizioni. Con il tempo, ho unito quella che è divenuta un'assodata abitudine con una delle iniziative da me lanciate, una sorta di rubrica a puntate rinominata Towards the Bikend: queste pubblicazioni – che ho deciso di contrassegnare con il tag #bikend – riguardano da vicino il mondo della bici, senza prediligerne nessun aspetto particolare. Raccoglie semplicemente le esperienze che faccio (e che ho fatto) con quel che abbia a che fare con le bici. Per esempio, allenamenti, giri cicloturistici, momenti di lavaggio o di assemblaggio. Ho già alcune foto pronte per mostrare i punti chiave di un buon lavaggio di livello base con cui è bene trattare il "mezzo".
Invece, oggi voglio tornare sui miei passi mostrando una serie di foto scattate durante una delle competizioni svoltesi nella zona industriale di Massa-Carrara nell'Ottobre 2022. Era la penultima gara della stagione ciclistica amatoriale locale. Come al solito, ho preso la mia bici e ho pedalato qua e là, fermandomi prima in un punto e poi in un altro. Così sono riuscito a farne venir fuori una serie di foto dalle diverse angolazioni. A casa, ho poi creato una versione in bianco e nero delle foto migliori. Sfortunatamente, le condizioni di luce hanno spesso giocato un ruolo chiave nell'effetto mosso che trovi in alcune delle immagini qui sotto. I vari momenti di modifica riescono qualche volta ad attenuare il difetto, qualche volta invece lo amplificano. Giusto per chiarire, con "momenti di modifica" intendo quegli step intermedi (che io effettuo grazie all'applicazione desktop gratuita Paint.net) con i quali trasformo l'immagine iniziale in quella finale.
Puoi vedere qui sotto un esempio dove ho inserito l'immagine iniziale – convertita in bianco e nero – affiancata a quella finale. Come puoi notare, la prima ha dei contrasti appena accennati, mentre la seconda possiede tutto un altro livello di luminosità.
E poi nulla, qui di seguito trovi una carrellata di foto che, nell'insieme, mi piace definire "fotostoria". Spero che ti piaccia e ti auguro buona visione.

For those who follow my blog, you know that I like to take some pictures here and there while walking or cycling. So, it often happens that cycling races are organized in the city where I live or nearby; so, several months ago during a usual day, I started taking pictures of the riders involved in the competitions. Over time, I merged what has become a habit with one of the initiatives I launched a few months ago, a sort of episodes-publishing renamed as Towards the Bikend: these publications - which I decided to mark with the #bikend tag – concerns the world of bikes more closely, but doesn't favor any particular area. It simply collects the experiences I have (and had) with everything to do with the bike. For example, training, tourist rides, cleaning or disassembling days. I have some photos ready with which I want to outline the key steps for a good first cleaning of the vehicle. But we will see that later... soon, but later.
Instead, today I want to retrace my steps by sharing a series of photos taken during one of the competitions that took place in the industrial area of Massa-Carrara in October 2022. It was the second-last race of the amateur cycling season in the area. As usual, I grabbed my bike and cycled here and there, stopping first in one spot and then in another. So I managed to come up with a series of shots taken from various angles. At home, I then created a black-and-white version of the best photographs. Unfortunately, the lighting conditions often play a key role in the blurry effect you find in a part of the photos below. The various stages of modification are sometimes able to mitigate the defects, sometimes they amplify them. Just to clarify, with "modification stages" I mean those steps (that I carry out thanks to an open-source graphics suite that is Paint.net) with which I transform an initial image into a final one.
You can see below an example where I inserted the initial image -
converted to black-and-white - alongside the final image. As you can see, the former has very subtle contrasts, while the latter has a whole other level of brightness.
And then nothing, below you will find a round-up of photos which, overall, I like to define as photostory. I hope you like the photos and I wish you a good vision.
