What are the essential oils?

Essential oils are concentrated liquids that contain chemicals from different plants. Also they can be considered as liquid substances that contain more active substances (aromatics) than the plants from which they are derived from . One of the main features of the essential oils is that it can easily evaporated at moderate temperatures.

There are different ways to extract essential oils:

  • Steam distillation. This process passes hot water or vaporized steam through the plants or parts of the plants, extracting essential chemicals from the plants.
  • Extraction of solvents when the chemical components are very fragile and are easily converted to other harmful chemicals due to the high temperatures used in steam distillation. Instead, solvents such as hexane are used to extract the essential oils.
  • Cold pressing. This process involves mechanical pressing or squeezing the seeds to extract the liquids contained in the plants or the (essential oils).

Essential oil uses.

  • The most common use of essential oils is aromatherapy. Aromatherapy is a form of medicine in which healing comes from the aromatic compounds found in essential oils and other ingredients.

  • Essential oils are frequently used in making different types of air fresheners, which is a great way make the living space smell good. Essential oils are a very important ingredient in many ( DIY air fresheners that found in YouTube), because they come in a variety of scents that can be mixed to create a natural scent. Essential oils not only smell good, but they are very famous for their medicinal properties, which can help reduce stress, improve mood, and improve memory.

  • They are used in the perfume and cosmetics industries and also in making natural soaps.
