Steemit is a social media platform that was first introduced in early 2016. It was designed and built on top of a Blockchain technology called Steem Blockchain. The primary purpose of Steemit was to be a social media platform that rewards both content Creators and Curators for their contribution on the platform or community. The platform has its own cryptocurrency called Steem which is what is used in rewarding creators and curators. Since the inception of Steemit, it has been a platform for Content Creators to exhibit or showcase their talent in article writing and blogging and have earned rewards while doing so. Steemit has huge potential as a social media platform for content creators and a business model for entrepreneurs and investors.

Steemit unlike mamy other traditional social media platforms is a decentralized platform with no censorship. It has been designed to facilitate free speech and the growth of a content creator depends on the quality or relevance of his or her content and the feedback the content gets from the community. In traditional social media platforms like YouTube and Facebook, the success of content creators is controlled by algorithms and preferences of the central company in authority like the YouTube company or Facebook Company. This decentralized nature of Steemit allows content creators to focus massively on creating quality content. I think that in the future, as more and more people join Steemit and contribute, it will change the way we use Social Media. It will cause the uprising of a large and decent social media community that is controlled by the people and not any central authority. As a blogger, I have been able to showcase my blogging skills and have improved on those skills with the help of the Steemit platform. This is the potential of Steemit as a social media platform. It has the ability to bring the best out of bloggers like myself. Unlike being a blogger owning your own website where the website owner has to focus on both creating content and finding an audience, Steemit provides creators with a ready audience that will like and give feedback to quality content. The creator earns from creating content and also gets feedback on his or her work. This is truly an amazing experience.

One of the features of Steemit that I believe makes it truly stand out from other social media platforms like, Instagram, Facebook and YouTube is the existence of Curation Rewards. Whenever a content creator posts content, users can choose to upvote the content if they find it upvote worthy. As more users with enough steem power upvote the creators content, the more the content or post will generate rewards. The rewards usually at the end of a week is split between the content creator and the curators. This feature opens up an opportunity for investors to earn rewards. The trick is simple, an investor will buy Steem and convert into Steem Power in a process on Steemit called Power Up That gives the investor more voting power. As they vote on content they earn Curation rewards. They keep doing this until they are in profit, meaning they make more than they had invested. Although every investment is without risk. The price of Steem can rise or fall and so an investor needs to be careful before making investment decisions. However, this makes us realize the investment potential of Steemit.

Steemit truly is a platform that has served its registered users very well and continue to do a great job. There are definitely future updates that I can't wait to see.
