Il primo giorno di questo diario coincide anche col primo giorno di ferie: una settimana in montagna. Sveglia alle 6:30, colazione e preparativi per la partenza. Non si tratta sicuramente di una lunga vacanza, ma soprattutto in questo periodo di Covid-19, è tutto quello che siamo riusciti a fare. Prima tappa dal benzinaio, poi in un negozio per uno spray da dare sui marmi che ci servirà al nostro ritorno a casa, poi tappa al Decathlon per comprare dei pantaloni da trekking. Altra tappa per riconsegnare delle cose prese in prestito ad un amico, quindi altro negozio, questa volta di scarpe, poi, finalmente, tappa per il pranzo dai suoceri.

The first day of this diary also coincides with the first day of vacation: a week in the mountains. Wake up at 6:30, breakfast and preparations for departure. This is definitely not a long vacation, but especially in this period of Covid-19, that's all we've been able to do. First stop at the gas station, then in a shop for a spray to be given on the marbles that we will need on our return home, then stop at the Decathlon to buy trekking pants. Another step to return some things borrowed to a friend, then another shop, this time for shoes, then, finally, a stop for lunch with the in-laws.

Dopo la sosta per il pranzo, finalmente ultima parte del viaggio, destinazione Corio, per la precisione Ritornato, una frazione di Corio, in provincia di Torino. Alla fine del viaggio arriviamo in un posto sperduto sulle montagne, a quasi 1000 metri di altitudine, dove abbiamo prenotato un bed & breakfast per una settimana di ferie all'insegna del riposo e di temperature miti, veniamo dalla pianura dove ci sono 38 gradi. Abbiamo in mente di fare delle passeggiate e di visitare qualcosa di interessante nei dintorni. Facciamo una breve tappa a Corio, giusto per avere un'idea del paesino e poi ci dirigiamo molto più in alto, infatti la frazione dove si trovo il nostro alloggio è a 4 km dal paese ma è 300 metri più in alto.

After the stop for lunch, finally the last part of the journey, destination Corio, to be precise Returned, a fraction of Corio, in the province of Turin. At the end of the trip we arrive in a remote place in the mountains, at almost 1000 meters above sea level, where we have booked a bed & breakfast for a week of holidays of rest and mild temperatures, we come from the plain where there are 38 degrees. We plan to go for walks and visit something interesting in the surrounding area. We make a short stop in Corio, just to get an idea of ​​the village and then we head much higher, in fact the hamlet where our accommodation is located is 4 km from the village but is 300 meters higher.

Il nostro alloggio è una grande casa padronale abbastanza recente, con giardino, galline, oche, arnie per il miele, un po' di piante da frutto, tra cui anche le fragole con un sistema di coltivazione che non avevamo mai visto e che credo proprio copieremo al nostro ritorno a casa. In pratica si tratta di un tubo piuttosto grande, al centro del quale è stato messo un tubo per l'irrigazione a goccia. Il tubo è chiuso da entrambe le parti e riempito di terra. Ogni decina di centimetri è stato praticato un foro rotondo; al centro di ognuno di questi fori è stata piantata una piantina di fragole. Un sistema ingegnoso che permette di tenere le fragole lontane dal terreno, irrigare in modo semplice e raccogliere le fragole senza sforzo.

Our accommodation is a large, fairly recent manor house, with a garden, chickens, geese, beehives for honey, some fruit trees, including strawberries with a cultivation system that we had never seen and which I believe we will copy on our return home. In practice it is a rather large tube, in the center of which a tube for drip irrigation has been placed. The tube is closed on both sides and filled with earth. A round hole was drilled every ten centimeters; a strawberry seedling was planted in the center of each of these holes. An ingenious system that allows you to keep strawberries off the ground, irrigate easily and harvest strawberries effortlessly.

La prima giornata, dopo un lungo viaggio, si conclude con una cena lunghissima al ristorante che si trova a pochi passi dal bed & breakfast. L'ironia è che la cena, a quasi 1000 metri di altitudine, è quasi esclusivamente a base di pesce, tutto molto buono, ma anche piuttosto caro. Torniamo all'alloggio piuttosto tardi e decisamente stanchi, sia per il viaggio sia per la cena esagerata. La prima giornata di vacanza è già terminata e, finalmente, andiamo a dormire.

The first day, after a long journey, ends with a very long dinner at the restaurant which is located a few steps from the bed & breakfast. The irony is that the dinner, at almost 1000 meters above sea level, is almost exclusively based on fish, all very good, but also quite expensive. We return to the accommodation rather late and decidedly tired, both for the trip and for the exaggerated dinner. The first day of vacation is already over and, finally, we go to sleep.
