Solana è stata lanciata uffialmente a Marzo 2020, e ad oggi 18/07/2021 il SOL vale $26.81 ed è al 14 posto nella classifica di CoinMarketCap per capitalizzazione di mercato.

Solana è la prima blockchain che ha integrato un nuovo protocollo di consenso chiamato Proof of History (PoH) con il Proof of Stake (PoS). Lo scopo è quello di rendere le transazioni il più veloce possibile, infatti Solana è in grado di fare 50.000 circa transazioni al secondo e di generare un blocco ogni 400ms.
Cosa significa Proof of History?
Dal sito di Solana leggiamo:
I nodi della rete non possono fidarsi di una fonte esterna di tempo o di qualsiasi timestamp che appare in un messaggio. [...]
E se ci si potesse semplicemente fidare del timestamp che è codificato nel messaggio? Un'enorme ricchezza di ottimizzazioni di sistemi distribuiti sarebbe improvvisamente a vostra disposizione. [...]
E se invece di fidarsi del timestamp si potesse provare che il messaggio è avvenuto qualche tempo prima e dopo un evento?[...]
Con Proof of History, si può creare un record storico che dimostra che un evento si è verificato in un momento specifico nel tempo.

Solana is the first blockchain to integrate a new consensus protocol called Proof of History (PoH) with Proof of Stake (PoS). The purpose is to make transactions as fast as possible, in fact Solana is able to do 50,000 or so transactions per second and generate a block every 400ms.
What does Proof of History mean?
From Solana's website we read:
Nodes in the network can’t trust an external source of time or any timestamp that appears in a message.[...]
What if you could simply trust the timestamp that is encoded into the message? An enourmous wealth of distributed systems optimizations would suddenly be at your disposal[...]
What if instead of trusting the timestamp you could prove that the message occured sometime before and after an event? [...]
With Proof of History, you can create a historical record that prooves that an event occured at a specific moment in time.
