Come tanti di voi, adoro gli animali e convivo con due bellissimi gatti, uno vecchiotto di ben 19 anni di età che in questi giorni non sta benissimo!
E ogni anno all'inizio dell'estate mi indigno, arrabbio e rimango sempre molto frustrata dal fenomeno dell' abbandono degli animali domestici, che come degli oggetti inutili vengono eliminati per poter andare in vacanza senza pensieri.
Leggevo in questi giorni che nel 2022 il fenomeno dell'abbandono estivo è aumentato del 20%, e non mi capacito come le persone riescano ad abbandonare un animale senza porsi problemi e avere sensi di colpa!
Le associazioni animaliste stanno già facendo girare spot pubblicitari per sensibilizzare le persone verso questo argomento, ma sappiamo bene purtroppo che serviranno a poco.
C'è un'iniziativa dell'ENPA, per sensibilizzare le persone all'adozione responsabile e consapevole, che invita la gente a pensarci bene prima di adottare un animale sia per i costi, infatti sembra che un cane in media costi circa 120 euro al mese, sia per il tempo da dedicargli, visto che sono esseri senzienti e hanno bisogno di cure coccole e attenzioni.
Certo oggi più che mai un animale domestico costa, ma certo non è un buon motivo per abbandonarlo, poi se il nostro governo facesse un gesto concreto per aiutare le persone che scelgono di vivere con gli animali sicuramente sarebbe un piccolo aiuto molto apprezzato, ci sono proposte di legge in Parlamento per chiedere di ridurre l'IVA al 10% sul cibo-prodotti specifici- cure veterinarie che se approvate sarebbero un grande gesto di civiltà!
Nel frattempo spero che questa non sia un'altra annata record per gli abbandoni e che tanti poveri animali non debbano vivere questa terribile esperienza!

If our government were to make a concrete gesture to help people who choose to live with animals, it would certainly be a small and much-appreciated help. In the meantime, I hope that this will not be another record year for abandonments and that so many poor animals will not have to go through this terrible experience!
