Il dipinto rappresenta una famiglia che si stringe tutta attorno a sé. Il mondo che è attorno a questa famiglia è un mondo di fiori verdi e di un cielo caldo, ma nelle forme dei personaggi e nei colori dei personaggi stessi si avverte il disagio della vita di ognuno di loro. Il titolo dell’opera è IL RITRATTO, perché l’opera ritrae l’abbraccio familiare. Quindi il ritratto non è il ritratto di un o più personaggi, ma è il ritratto dell’abbraccio famigliare, visto dal pittore come un luogo di conforto contro le avversità della vita. Avversità che, nonostante il mondo fantastico in cui si vive, ci saranno sempre ed in diversi periodi della vita.

In questo dettaglio vediamo la famiglia rappresentata in modo etereo, come se fossero un forma che deriva dalle nuvole del cielo oppure come se fossero le colline del prato disegnato nella parte bassa del dipinto. Qui vediamo un tratto di grande importanza, ma difficile da cogliere. I capelli dei personaggi sono radici di alberi. L’artista vuole sottolineare che le nostre radici non sono solo legate ai posti, ma risiedono anche nelle persone che ci sono state vicino nella vita.

In basso alla destra del quadro c’è un corpo celeste, una specie di sole, il quale però non si riesce ad identificare se è dietro o addirittura davanti alle nuvole.

The painting depicts a family huddling all around itself. The world that is around this family is a world of green flowers and a warm sky, but in the shapes of the characters and the colors of the characters themselves, the uneasiness of each of their lives can be felt. The title of the work is THE PORTRAIT, because the work portrays the family embrace. So the portrait is not a portrait of one or more characters, but it is a portrait of the family embrace, seen by the painter as a place of comfort against the adversities of life. Adversities that, despite the fantasy world one lives in, will always be there and at different periods of life.

In this detail we see the family depicted ethereally, as if they were a shape derived from the clouds in the sky or as if they were the hills of the meadow drawn in the lower part of the painting. Here we see a feature of great importance, but difficult to capture. The characters' hair is tree roots. The artist wants to emphasize that our roots are not only related to places, but also reside in the people who have been close to us in life.
