Khunzakh Canyon. Dagestan.
The canyon begins at the village of Arani and further along its right side is the village of Khunzakh. The houses of this locality are visible on the right in the photo.
For some reason, this canyon is also called Tsolotlinsky Canyon and even Tobotsky. This name comes from the name of the Tobot River, which falls down like a waterfall and flows along the bottom of the canyon. You can see another waterfall on the left side - Itlyatlyar waterfall, by the name of the village on the left side of the fault.

Хунзахский каньон. Дагестан.
Каньон начинается у села Арани и дальше вдоль его правой стороны расположено село Хунзах. Дома этого населенного пункта видны справа на фотографии.
Почему-то этот каньон еще называют Цолотлинский каньон и даже Тоботский. Именно река Тобот водопадом падает вниз и протекает по дну каньона. Можно увидеть еще один водопад на левой стороне - водопад Итлятляр, по названию деревни на левой стороне разлома.
At the base of the canyon, people planted birch trees to restrain its movement to the village of Arani. The riverbed, or rather the stream flows through a concrete trough, also for the very reason that the stream could not erode the soil. I was at the canyon in winter and the stream was small, but in spring it can be very strong and fast. By the way, the water falling into the canyon forms large icicles that periodically crash down. This sound spreads over a long distance.
У основания каньона люди посадили березы, чтобы сдержать его движение к селу Арани. Русло реки, а точнее ручья взято в бетонный желоб, тоже по той самой причине. Я был у каньона зимой и ручей был маленьким, но весной он бывает очень сильным и быстрым. Кстати, падающая в каньон вода образует большие сосульки, которые периодически с грохотом падают вниз. Этот звук распространяется на большое расстояние.
