WOX Travel Contest | Travel to Wild West Australia

Wave Rock 🧡 Victoria Rock

We have been planning and intending to visit Australia's Wild West for a long time. Now here the weather is "winter", but the temperatures are quite tolerable and pleasant. The plane ride was long and exhausting, but the trip was definitely worth it. It took us some time to acclimatise as it is summer in Europe and here it is the opposite. We landed in Perth and from there rented an off-road vehicle to drive around and explore the Australian desert.

A huge ocean wave has frozen in the middle of the rocks in Australia and catches the eye of everyone who passes by it. The rock wave is located 5 km from the town of Hayden and is of remarkable dimensions - it is about 15 m high and stretches for as much as 110 m in length. Today, Rock Wave is one of Australia's biggest visitor attractions. About 140,000 tourists visit Hayden and the Wave each year, which is a 3-4 hour drive from the port city of Perth. The site is a favorite for photographs, and the best season to visit this rock phenomenon is spring, when the entire area is carpeted with wild multi-colored flowers.

The unusual rock is made of granite and has withstood the vagaries of time for thousands of years. According to geologists, it has existed for 2.7 billion years and is among the oldest in the world , and its formation in its present form began about 60 million years ago. Its rounded shape is the result of millions of years of chemical erosion at the base of the rock below the earth's surface.

Over time, the rains washed away various minerals from the rock, which flowed down and left wide red-brown, black, yellow and gray traces, sealed forever from the time. That's why Rock Wave looks so different depending on the light - gray, green, brown or bright red. The colors are especially bright under the rays of the morning sun, when it looks really remarkable. The area in which the rock wave is located was first inhabited by the aborigines. The legends say that they arehowever, strange to the entity, because of a dark story connected with the nearby cave of the man - devil Mulka.

He was the illegitimate son of a woman who fell in love with a warrior from a hostile tribe . Their marriage was forbidden by tribal laws, and because of their transgression , their son was born cross-eyed. Mulka became a man of extraordinary physical strength, but could not shoot accurately and become a good hunter. So he became angry, began to hunt and eat people's children. When his mother confronted him about his behavior, he became enraged and killed her, then fled to the cave near the Rock Wave, where two huge palm prints still stand today . Because of the murders, the aborigines started chasing him and killed him with arrows.
