Dead Season

At a better time, we have ferries from Sweden, Finland, Estonia here, full of travellers, as well as cruise ships from other countries. But not in winter, not during the pandemic.

Too cold to have a good stroll, too depressing to meet anyone, scary, boring. Visiting this frozen windy seaside area, a 5-minute walk from my place, was a way to reconnect to life, nature, the planet, reality in winter 2020-2021.

They had an ice rink there with Christmas lights hanging above, a few cabin street shops with hot pastry, a crowd of young people and schoolchildren, happy to skate circle by circle.

Lonely cold winter. One of the worst periods of my life.

A Russian song about another city, another bridge, and other people' lives and dreams. But still the same. As it often happens to good songs.
