The photos were taken at the Pashupatinath temple in Kathmandu. It is the most important Hindu temple in Nepal, dedicated to Shiva. It is located on the Bagmati River, a tributary of the Ganges. Many believers come here as you see on the photos. Many bathe and do their laundry in the river. Many elderly followers come to the temple to stay the last weeks of their lives. When the die here, they will also be cremated by the Bagmati river. In this way their last journey will be on a river that will take the ashes to the holy river Ganges. The cremation platforms and the funeral pyres does make sure that we know this is also a place for the dead.
