La Linea was created in 1969 and the point was to use the cartoon in commercials in Italy for the company named Lagostina. But it didn't take long before the character became an independent cartoon. The creator is Osvaldo Cavandoli, who during the years between 1969 to 1991 created 90 episodes with La Linea. These episodes were short. Only about two minutes. They were perfect as fillers between the broadcasts. That was the case here in Norway for many years. I don't remember the last time I saw an episode. For years we haven't seen La Linea who was a superb entertainer. The films is about La Linea, a man drawn as a simple character, always walks on an infinite line, where he usually comes to an obstacle so he cannot continue. He speaks in a non understandable language when he turns to the the cartonist to get help with the solution.
The artist behind these power boxes is the Norwegian, Oslo based artist Dot Dot Dot. He has a playful and satirical style and is known across most of the country for his graffiti and street art. He started his career as a graffiti artist in 1997. At that time he had a different nickname and has also changed his name several times before it became the current one. For now, he is still known as Dot Dot Dot. It is not only La Linea that he has painted in Kristiansand. He has actually painted quite a few different types of art in our city. I do think I will come across more power boxes with La Linea.
